Written on UPDATE: Marco man pinned between vehicles, airlifted to hospital:

The driver was driving way too fast and when asked to slow down she hit the gas instead of the brakes. Drivers over 70 years old should be tested periodically to make sure they are still able to drive safetly.

Written on Marco City Manager review may segue to review of city charter :

Frank is a friend of mine and he is a huge disappointment.

Written on Bryan Milk named City of Marco Island Parks and Recreation Director:

Brian was the best choice. Brian will bring the YMCA, the Optimist club and the city together. Great choice by Thompson.

Written on Guest Commentary: Just when you thought it was safe:

Mr. Popoff, sometimes I feel as though you are the only logical voice of reason on council. Very well thoughtout commentary.

Written on Letter To The Editor: What iguanas?:

Just because you haven't seen any iguanas doesn't mean they don't exist. There are thousands of these pests that defecate on everything and eat everything in sight; some are as long as 6-7 feet. These iguanas are a very real problem that must be addressed.

Written on Letter To The Editor: Never accept nastiness:

As usual, great words Terri but there are a few that will not let go of the past. They will do whatever they can to disrupt our city and harm our good citizens. For all of our benefit I post the following:

It is the act of forgiveness that opens up the only possible way to think creatively about the future at all.
-- Father Desmond Wilson

Today is full of endless possibilities and dreams. In many cases, we are limited only by our fear and lack of hope, in others and ourselves. Each new day we are given a clean page to live in our book of life.

What freedom we find when we choose to practice the art of forgiveness. Forgiving others and ourselves will allow us to step into this new day as free human beings. What can really hurt us in the present if we have the key to daily forgiveness? What could our friend, boss, or enemy possibly say that would be worth the emotional price of on-going resentment?

Freedom is a gift we give ourselves every time we choose not to react to a hurtful comment. Holding on to old resentments keeps our creative energy trapped and stifled. Our choices are these: new freedom or old resentment. We choose new freedom. It is the gift we give ourselves when we choose not to let the sun rise on yesterday's script.

Today let me forgive everyone and anything - past and present - that might distract me from my spiritual growth.

Written on Politics get personal at Marco City Council meeting :

Kiester talks about possible Sunshine violations?? That's a topic he should be an expert on since the courts found him guilty of same. I watch Monday night at the fights (council meetings)on cable and can't believe that people are complaining about our city council being unprofessional. Every letter to the editor is written by the same handful of people complaining and name calling. Just about everyone that speaks at the podium is complaining and name calling. When council defends themselves all the naysayers claim they are mistreated. Oh my Lord!!!! If you can dish it out you better be able to take it; I think our council has had it with the double standard!
