Are these not the Bush tax cuts that are due to expire? So he is cutting nothing. In fact his proposal is to raise the taxes and he is holding the middle class hostage to get an increase for the wealthy only. The key here is to cut the spending to match the revenues and to cut spending means get rid of waste and faulty government investments in private sector businesses in contrived industries. For one, why does the City Council need to get an update from them? Does The Middle School and TBE do the same???
Second, the director is all smoke and mirrors. Most people that I have spoken to had a BAD experience at the school this year and will not be returning. Most of the rising 8th graders will be attending Lely. Nothing of value occuring at that school. Parents are shortchanging their child;s education and need to look elsewhere ASAP!

All of you, I guess, expect the papers to explain it all for you. The last principal resigned partly because an Art Teacher that he recruited for the school was not paid the salary that the teacher was promised.
If all the meetings and issues were made Public, we would know how the School was being run or mis-managed.
When and where can we find the Public documents about revenue and expenses and salaries, etc. Or, is it time to bring these issues back to the School Board.

The Art teacher was only able to do one job and multi-tasking in needed in this small school setting. The situation was addressed and a few issues are to be expected as our High School comes together, try not to be so negative about your own community Ed.

I think the Academy should be more concerned with paying the teachers their salary, as they promise them, instead of only being able to pay half of what was promised.
All the meetings and negotiations seem awkward as this school is mainly run from Public funds and all activities should be Public. Maybe it is time for the School Board, which thought the Academy was under financed from the start, to look into how the school is being run.

What kind of High School experience is that? The parents of these kids really feel they are getting the most out of high school attending that school? I think the Academy and Everglades should combine. Since Everglades has an actual school I think the Academy needs to send their kids there. If they do that then they "might" have a chance against some poor JV teams in the area.

We have listened to your candidates, voted for many and leaned a few things: The Tea Party is a group of uninformed, uneducated and easily influenced individuals. The House of Representatives flush with Tea Party activists have proven that they are lackey's of the Koch brothers and consistently vote with the Republican party. Democrats and Indepenents? You can't tell that by the way these people vote. The Tea Party has not worked for jobs, they are obstructionists and anti growth. They support the 1 percent, the bankers, the mortgage companies and all those other folks that raped and pilaged our economy. Historicaly, they will be identified with those who destroyed the Republican party.

Yes, the workers should have continued to work in poor or dangerous working conditions, or have their children work, or even worked two jobs to put food on the table. Afterall, other countries allow polluted air, water, toxic working conditions, and child labor. The U.S. worker is to blame for demanding decent conditions and a living wage. We should all live like the third world countries so we can have our jobs!

Federal Labor laws passed over forty years ago ended all those issues. Unions don't really seem to have much purpose anymore, except to funnel workers money to democrats.
