Great Job Dana! Its great to see in a time when all we hear about is Sewers, Bridges and Roads, something as small as a a Tot Spray Park can bring so much Joy to our children. One thing we must always keep in mind is that no matter how hard times seem, nothing replaces Recreation. PRICELESS!
Thank You! This is a PUBLIC BRIDGE that all use and should be paid by ALL! The bottom line is that this bridge should be paid by the State of Florida but the MPO and Marco leaders dont want to wait until they are dead for the state to do that. Why should ONLY the people of Marco pay for a bridge that EVERYONE uses.
AMEN!
THE KEY TO LELY'S FUTURE SUCCESS IN VOLLEYBALL IS THE SAME AS IT IS IN ALL THEIR SPORTS....WHETHER OR NOT THEY CAN RECRUIT AND RETAIN THE BEST AND MOST QUALIFIED COACHES. COACHES THAT NOT ONLY WORK DURING THEIR OWN SEASON, BUT THOSE THAT EMBRACE THE YOUTH PROGRAMS AND DEVELOP THEIR RESPECTIVE PROGRAMS FROM WITHIN. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT IS SEVERELY LACKING AS MANY OF THEIR COACHES ARE "PART TIMERS" WHEN MOSTLY ALL OF COLLIER COUNTY COACHES TAKE THIER JOBS SERIOUSLY AND TREAT IT AS A "FULL TIME" JOB.
GO GIANTS!
NO MORE ASSESSMENTS....NO MORE TAXES...NO MORE NOTHING!!!!UNLESS THE ASSESMENT EQUATES TO AN EQUAL TAX REDUCTION DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR WE DONT WANT IT!IT IS GETTING RIDICULOUS HERE ON MARCO AND SOON NO ONE WILL BE ABLE TO AFFORD TO LIVE HERE.ALL THAT WILL HAPPEN HERE IS THEY WILL ASSESS YOU AND USE THE 3.8 MILL SAVINGS ON MORE "IMPROVEMENTS".THIS IS ANOTHER WAY OF CIRCUMVENTING THE CAP. WHY CANT WE FIGURE OUT WAYS TO LOWER TAXES FURTHER AND STOP SPENDING!
THIS LAND WAS GIVEN BY DELTONA TO THE SCHOOL BOARD FOR $1 AND WAS STIPULATED TO BE USED "FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE CHILDREN OF MARCO ISLAND". UNDERLINE "CHILDREN"....NOT ADULTS OF MARCO ISLAND, NOT CHILDREN OR ADULTS OF COLLIER COUNTY.THIS LAND SHOULD ONLY BE USED FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE CHILDREN OF MARCO ISLAND. THIS CAN ONLY BE USED AS LAND WHERE CHILDREN EITHER ATTEND SCHOOL OR RECREATE.THE FIELDS CANNOT BE USED FOR ADULTS AND THE LAND CANNOT BE USED FOR ANY OTHER PURPOSE. COLLIER COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD HAS A RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE ITS USE NO MATTER WHAT THEY DO WITH THE LAND.
GO KATIE!!!!
Why is it that whenever politicians need cash they TAX!!!! Kiesters idea of taxing 2% on sewer and water is ridiculous! We pay far too much for sewer and water and more are on the way. Whatever happened to the statement that we would not raise water rates for a few years.....NOT! Im sick of the $200+ water bills. This is a disaster! We need to find ways to REDUCE our water bills that are among the highest in the country!SAVE OUR HOMES!!!!
I know they do a great job but boy are we paying for it!My rates have gone up SIGNIFICANTLY THIS YEAR.
Timing has nothing to do with it. Its been a year since the hurricane and ALL the scoreboards should have been replaced by now. I will bet you that IF and thats a BIG one, the scoreboards for baseball and softball are replaced it will be right before or after the season begins. Those sports are not a priority for the current administration. As far as GCHS, the fact that they raised the money is great, but that cant happen at Lely. The AD demands that all fundraising dollars go into the general fund and not to a particular sport or activity. Thats why the money raised by ball players and even cheerleaders does nothing for their sport. It mostly goes to FOOTBALL!.
Oh stop the whining about how much...Its OK to spend another 100k on another bocce court for the old folks...We need to take care of our youth as they will one day be depended upon to take care of US!
How about the scoreboards for Baseball and Softball???They were blown out during Katrina and never replaced. It seems football always gets taken care of FIRST!Also, has anyone seen the batting cages and equipment our baseball and softball players have to deal with? No wonder Gulf Coast went undefeated last year...go look at their equipment!I say this is more important than a press box at the football field.Cmon Collier County...its time to treat ALL athletes EQUALLY!
The real reason POP is doing this is because they cant elect the right people to city council. Any PAC worth its salt will be able to do it the old fashioned way...through the election process. This strategy to place the issue on the ballot as a referendum is ridiculous. Whether you like or dont like the current City Manager, this is not the way to remove him. By approving this we are looking like a bunch of FOOLS! Accountability MUST rest with the elected officials. You cant have 15,000 people deciding the fate of our city manager. By doing so you politicize the position. If the people of Marco are dissatisfied with the performance of ANY public official than they need to address it with their elected officials(council). If council does nothing than you need to remove the council member. We cant be voting on this every year. You will never get a qualified candidate for the position. The only thing you WILL get is someone that will tell you what you want to hear. But unfortunately he will only be as good as his last action. Lets not politicize the City Manager position by doing this. Once and for all, if you dont like the city managers performance than dont elect councilors that do not hold him accountable. It seems like every year all we hear about is how badly the manager is performing but council throws heaps of praise and MONEY at him. If you dont agree than why have you not been able to put together a council to address this. I blame the citizens of Marco for this. Not the city manager. The citizens elected these 7 people and they can vote them out. But they never do. All we get is lip service from the candidates and when they get elected they dont do what they said they were going to do. The city manager is the scapegoat here. The real culprits are the 7 councilors. They either are not listening to what we are saying or they dont care.I believe that they are listening. I believe that POP, like MICA and MITA and all the other PACS do not represent the majority of the people. They represent a very small portion of the population and want you to believe they represent everyone. Council should not answer to the minority of citizens. Council needs to take the pulse of the community and represent the ENTIRE community. I beleieve that by going down this path we WILL be the LAUGHING STOCK of the state if we arent already.
Also one of the coaches, Joe DiSciullo is also from Marco. He was instrumental in developing the hitters!
My daughter is attending the camp and is loving it!
How about the scoreboards for the Baseball and Softball teams?Last year these teams had to go without them as they were never repaired after hurricance Wilma.Hopefully they will be ready for NEXT season........
