Written on Popular Marco restaurateur Tony Rainone dies at 54:

The Island has lost a giant of a man. I imagine right now he's planning a cookout for charity in heaven.

Written on Letter to the Editor: Attacked:

Waldack is an insufferable puppet, more interested in publicity and his own self importance than in representing taxpayers or treating them with respect. He is capable of neither because of what my mother used to call "ill breeding". I know his mentors who pushed him into the council are taking a new look, given his behavior.

Written on Letters to the Editor: October 24:

Thanks for a very perceptive dissertation Sal

Written on None:

What an unfortunate loss for Naples..The man epitomizes the non political politician. Wonder what he'll get on Naples Council members to he can pull their strings like the puppets he had on Marco..Hooray for us!!! Pity poor Neapolitans.

Written on Marco City Council meets in emergency session Friday:

Forgive me if I sound dumb, but according to the contract, the city does NOT pay the monitoring costs. The Contractor who screwed up foots the bill..but I'm Sure Bill Moss and his minions will find another way to stick it to us. He should be even more arrogant now, even though he is trying to leave, but promises to stay with us if he can't find another job...why shouldn't he be more confident? He has a new propogandist in Leslie Williams..combined with Lisa Douglas, who gives a new definition to flak, he is sitting pretty in the one sided chair. David Rush

Written on Bill Moss' e-mail to councilors about interest in Naples city manager job:

I find it pretty arrogant for Mr. Moss to say that if he isn't selected, he will continue to work for Marco in his current capacity. But what else could one expect from a person who professes not to be political, and whose arrogance has been on display 10 years..in later years dealing with his puppets on the Council.

Written on Letters to the Editor: September 13:

I find Mr. Waldeck's question extremely interesting in that he frequently supplies little gems to the Eagle and the Daily News. I can't judge the comparison of H2S, but I feel if one is to question someone, one should spell out what one is talking about for the benefit of those who are not PhDs. I have never formally met Dr. Paret, but I have great respect for his observations. By the way, what are Mr. Waldeck's credentials other than his hobby is writing letters to the editor? Keep it up guys, in this day and time we need a little bit of comic relief.

Written on Marco's 10-year anniversary: Give us your two cents:

As a member of the original Charter Committee, over the years I have seen changes and amendments that in the end, bear little resemblence to our original document. What we have seen in recent years, as City status continued its evolvement into maturity, is a dictatorial type of government, often ridiculing those who might oppose a given issue. Neither the City Manager nor the Council majority has indicated a lack of concern over the feelings of the people who voted them in. I would hope the future will hold brighter prospects for our voices to be heard, without a trip to the verbal gutter by both the voters and the votees. David Rush

Written on MICA: Setting the record straight:

I can appreciate letters condemning organizations and individuals for their stands via fabrication, but what I can't understand is why the letter writer is afraid to name the individual. We have a right to know who it is, for I for one know a number of people who are guilty of such shenagins

Written on Marriott announces prices for timeshares:

So what are the prices Ed?

Written on On the Town: CARES fan’s view: Legal schmeagle:

I do wish Dr. Zecchino would translate his convoluted essay. Or have I misssd something here?

Written on None:

They broke the law, more than just a teenager's prank. And they should be punished for it. "Whatever the punishment decided, charges SHOULD NOT be dropped.

Written on Marco letters to the editor: October 17:

I too, just returned from a vacation in the mountains, and found to my dismay, there is still an adversarial relationship between council and constituents...calling opponents "a handful of malcontents" doesn't really do much to foster a good impression to outsiders about what used to be a Paradise within itself. I agree with the letter write who described it as a "Paradise Lost".

Written on Sewer project will continue despite City Council objections:

I stil want to know whose pockets are being lined. The question was asked months ago, and no one on council or in city manager's office has responded. This plantation owner mentality that prevails on the current council, and the feeling of absolute power on the part of four of the council mambers have left constituents out in the cold, even though we're the ones who foot the bills and who elected. I'm sorry to say, the current gang of four and their appointed boss, whose feeling of power is unsurpassed. They remind me of a group of small town ward heelers.

Written on Deli with a difference:

Did the City Council not have its weekly spending session and hell with the constiuency meeting Monday night? No coverage here if it did. Personally I liked the previous format for the Marco Eagle.

Written on City delays discussion on 2 key issues until Aug. 21:

I never heard such baloney in my life as that which comes from Manager Moss' mouth when it comes to the sewer issue. He's too slick about it, something is rotten in Marco and it isn't the sewage alone.
