Don't try and play the victim role van, you and I have been friends on the blogs for a long time now. And once again, I agree with you in that council should have given Thompson more direction.

Fact is though, you called the council inept. All I said was run for council if you can do better. Those poor saps get beat up everytime they open their mounths and rarely get complimented when things go well.

Sorry fellas, has nothing to do with the citizens vs. Marco Government; we are in terrible economic times. We're all struggling.

I'll take that bet 27 year resident. I have seen the same nonsense that you have. There is always a small network of people who will do anything to disrupt our city government. Frank Recker ran his campaign on common sense and stopping all of the fighting and now he is at the center of it all. I have been a strong supporter of Recker but now he has aligned himself with the same people he campaigned against.

Ulher, you obviously weren't at the meeting because, as usual your facts are all wrong. You must have been in attendance at an Obama fundraiser with the rest of your wacky liberal friends.

For the record, councilors Forcht and Popoff made the motion and the second to call for a forensic audit. Councilor Recker simply attacked an innocent city manager and you shamelessly appplaud him.

Fossil, you are pitiful and dishonest! The Celebrate Marco meeting you speak of took place at Mackle Park, not a church! It was an unfortunate and inappropriate statement. But that one emotional outburst pales in comparision to what our city council and staff has had to endure over the last three years from the likes of individuals like you!

Last night was Marco City Council at their best. They actually did something positive with open and productive dialog. I have been going to council meetings since we became a city and have never seen such a riveting and dynamic debate. Hope this is the sign of more good to come...

It is disheartening to me that we have all these blogs about one insignificant individual. People on this island are not stupid, we know who McMullan is and that he is full of himself. I see him around the island waving to people as if he is the mayor of Marco. What he is blind to is that we have him figured out. He is not a person with the best interest of Marco Island in mind; he is a deceitful person and his words have no weight with the majority. Just ignore him; he is a nobody!

Wayne, give the CAP a rest already. Stop the nonsense about the CAP. We the citizens, your constituents voted three times to keep the CAP in place...its a dead issue. What in the heck are you trying to prove?

OldMarcoMan, show up, meet Mack and share with him your concerns. I'm sure he is well-aware of the Marco bridge issue and will address that. Councilor Popoff should be commended for getting this calibre of political clout to our island. We can scream and holler all we want but decisions like the bridge are made at the highest levels not in local town hall meetings which are essentially just gripe sessions for the vocal minority.

If you want to get results then go to the top. At least one councilor understands that!

Ray, I have just had it with you! You are like a worn-out old sock that gets stuck behind the dryer. Why don't you just fade away like other crusty old has been dentists. The fact that your nieghbor painted his house with polka dots and won't repaint it until you die is a true testament to your standing in this community. You still might have a year or two left, it might not be too late to move to Sun City where you always belonged. Somehow you made a wrong turn and ended up on our beautiful resdiential tourist desitination.

You may be happy to know that you are the talk of the town...no one has ever read anything positive from you or about you! When you were younger did you think you woud grow old and ornery? 1. Popoff doesn't like Tucker (Tucker bad mouthed him on a business deal)

2. Whoever you are I am sure you don't have the guts to talk trash to Rob's face.

Finally, six councilors voted to hear his plan. They put their emotions aside and voted to see if Tuckers firm can save the city some It. If it violates the charter, end of story. Too bad for Tucker.

Do we really have this many Democrats on Marco Island?

Sounds great to just ignore the problem until we have no way off of our island. Just like the STRP, we need to act before it becomes a serious issue not afterwards. We cannot wait until the bridge falls down to see what the state will do, nor could we continue to polute the canals with feces and once we ruined our waterways then sewer the island. Most Marco residents know this and voted accordingly. The council did what they were suppose to do last night; they made a difficult and unpopular decision that was the right decision. Good Job!!

dc, I agree with you, Guidry is a good Doctor and a good soldier who has fought for our country and saved many soldiers lives in Afghanistan and Iraq. That is what’s so puzzling about this immature behavior with the parking lot. He is a good guy who is just acting like a baby because he lost the election! The parking lot was NEVER an issue until AFTER the election. Andrew needs to grow up; he's lost a lot of patients and is bound to lose more with his juvenile behavior! Moreover, he is losing credibility and the respect of many people on this island.

Ms. Williams you did not do your homework on this one! The Mackle brothers NEVER intended Marco Island to be retirement commnity. In everything they wrote and everthing they said, they never said Marco was a retirement community but rather a mixed community for young families, tourists and small businesses and retirees...not a retirement community. The Mackles donated land for schools and parks. Your lack of research just fueled the CAVE DWELLERS shallow arguement about Deltonas development of Marco Island. Do your research and print the facts...please!!

At the last council meeting councilors Popoff and Forcht asked for dog parks to be brought up on a future agenda. Popoff then said that he wanted Marco Island to be a dog friendly city like Naples. While I don't relish the idea of dog doo doo everywhere, Naples doesn't seem to have a problem. As long as the fines for irresponsible dog owners is hefty enough I think a dog friendly Marco could work.

Sayre, you must have been a professor of rhetoric! What an idiotic diatribe! The last election clearly stated that the majority supports Councilor Popoff and that you are in the very obnoxious vocal minority.

You do realize that there was a landslide victory where over 5000 citizens said FINISH THE STRP and ENOUGH OF THE NEGATIVITY.
