Promote from within when you have a qualified candidate...this guy has NO parks and rec experience!!!I cant wait to see if they OVERPAY him....With his lack of experience he should be at the BOTTOM of the scale but knowing how the city overpays everyone he will be at the top.

Nothing against the decision but what happened to the selection process? I thought there was to be a National Search? Dana Souza hasnt even been gone for 2 weeks and we already have a replacement. What makes a city planner qualified to be in charge of parks? Thats why you actually search for a better candidate. Lastly, how much is this unqualified individual to make? I hope he is not at the upper end of the pay scale with his lack of experience.
Something sounds fishy...if there isnt enough smelly fish here on Marco..........

why arent these games at the Charter School????
One would think that the school which is paid by tax dollars could allow our marco kids to play there.

You will not get the MICMS facility because you are competing against the YMCA for the limited number of kids. The leaders of the Y and Charter are united. Programs cannot survive when they are competing. All that occurs is a split in the participation that kills both programs.
I cant wait to see what happens in the Spring when the Optimist puts out baseball and soccer at the same time....BOTH WILL FAIL!

You people have no clue what participation in sports is all about. All you care about is that you keep these poor kids on the rock. There is a real world out there and your kids are not a part of it. Keep sheltering them and protecting them. They will be in shock when they go to high school and get their heads handed to them. All becuause they did not get the exposure of playing their peers like the rest of the Collier County kids. The Cal Ripken league had a lot of unhappy people including the tballers that were stuck in the outfield to play their games.
Keep telling yourself that what you have is good. No one else believes it.

Where will the games be played?
I know the Y cant be happy about this and the Charter School will be used for their teams.
Sounds like out in the cold at Mackle????

For one, the optomist club is on par with the YMCA, they organize rec programs. They do not provide the best avenue for sports. Marco's youth will see no better by affiliating with them. They will be better off staying independent. Sounds like the leaders of the respetive leagues are looking to pass the buck and dont want to run the leagues anymore. The football program will play inferior talent becuase it couldnt compete against the big boys and the baseball league is a minor league rec program and always will be.
They will never offer anything close to Little League or Travel ball competition.
