I would like to clarify that the Y fees are NOT half of what the Church charges, as stated in the article.

If we are not using the franchise fee funds for underground UTILITY like it was intended, then eliminate that fee for the residents. Why should these funds be used for anything but this?? Mr Moss' quote says if we don't use the funds for underground power lines then the fee shall be abolished.Get rid of it.Why is Joel allowed everytime to come back looking for more money? He should have budgeted the initial $300,000.accordingly.

Don't expect any beach access any time soon!! Recreation has seemed to have been pushed to the wayside by the city and our council. Please if you are interested look back and see what the council has approved in the last six months, with respect to PUBLIC WORKS projects and you will see what I mean. Not one of these projects were asked to go back and scale it down. There seems to be a double standard. Go to the city website and you will be able to read what I am telling you is true, by reviewing the council agendas and minutes.

Mr. Tucker's comments may be true about morale, but never bothered to consider what this decision has done to the morale of the rest of the city employees, did he?

Murphy’s analysis showed that the taxable value of property on Marco Island totaled $2.3 billion in 1995. During that year, the fire-rescue department totaled 29 employees. In 2006, the value of island property increased to $12.1 billion. The department’s personnel totals 35 this year.
This statement doesn't sit well with me due to the fact that yes, property values skyrocked between this time. Our population I believe did not. If our property values were to fall to 1995 levels again does that mean we would reduce the force? I don't think so, so please throw that senario out the window. Also we don't need special taxes earmarked for public safety.

What is it with Mr Joel, everything is always over budget with his department? Does he even have a budget? Everytime he needs more money to fund his projects. I wish the council would shoot him down once in a while with these additional requests of money. Do we really need cameras at the traffic lights, when later this month the utilities will be asking to raise our water and sewer bills by at least another 2%. Don't forget that Mr. Joel is running utilities and public works. We need people to write to your council; and attend these meetings.

When Mr. Hall sent out 2,000 and recieved 1,500 back, that surely doesnt constitute a done deal.1,500 of the same people that complain about everything else.I'm sorry to inform you that this is not how the voting majority on this island feel.I for one am looking forward to the seasonal population to return and really understand what this nonsense is about. I'm not talking about the few of them that respond to these articles everyday.Good Luck!

You guys are all nuts!!!!!
What about innocent until proven guilty?? Oh, I forgot, thats too rational for you wackos. All of you need to realize that just because things are not going the way YOU like them too, that everyone else is on board with this. 10% of the voters is not that strong in my opinion. I would like to see your comments when all this nonsense is defeated along with the rest of it.Oh, I forgot, I already know what youll say, you all are way too predictable. Please get a life and move on, or better yet MOVE AWAY! Thank You
