“I will stop the program,” Forcht said. “That’s what I was elected to do.”
The keyword here is ELECTED.
Marco will decide it's own future based on ELECTED councilors from Marco making a decision with the benefit of the truth.
Let the people decide. We thought we had the right ELECTED councilors the last time until one of them went back on his campaign promise.
This time there will no doubt, the line has been very clearly drawn.

This email string doesn't involve Kelber. What the hell are you talking about?
This is Arceri giving orders to Moss, Moss acknowledges and then primes Patterson ready for a crucial Council vote on the STRP, and then blind copies the "mastermind" Arceri on "mission accomplished"
Patterson had no idea that her email from the City Manager was being blind copied back to Arceri who was originally behind her being duped.
What about the other councilors....where were they in this little shade deal.....THEY WERE EXCLUDED.
Do you want to see more email like the one posted. Maybe we all need to get educated on how the STRP was pushed along by John Arceri in an effort to cover his bungling of the Water plant purchase.
Where's the "SUNSHINE" in this little email string.
From public records......email of how the STRP fiasco started.
Vice Chair John Arceri to City Manager Bill Moss, Bill Moss back to John Arceri, Bill Moss to Councilor Jeannette Patterson, with a BLIND COPY back to John Arceri.

Bill,
As I mentioned to you it would be good if we could frame the approval of the Tigertail contracts Monday night in such a way that the fixed cost plan is understood to be a "go". Jeanette Patterson may come on board if, and only if, there is this tie to the fixed plan she proposed. You had mentioned that there would be something in the yellow agenda sheet but there was no mention of the fixed cost plan.
Bill, any idea how this could be structured (motion) so that all would understand that the fixed cost plan is a given? I surely don't want it to be a prerequisite which could hold up the contracts for a while.
John Arceri

Dear Vice-Chair:
Sorry. I was thinking that the revised cost reflected Council's decision, but of course the fixed costs do not apply to Tigertail. I will send the yellow sheet to Councilor Patterson with an explanation.

Dear Councilor Patterson:
Sorry that you will have a full agenda for your last meeting. There are not many issues, but a couple of them may take some time. Attached is the agenda and the yellow sheets for two of the more public issues--Award of Contract for Construction in the Tigertail Assessment District, and Discussion regarding use of Veterans Community Park.
You will note that the cost for the Tigertail assessment has dropped considerably. There is no mention of the Council approved "fixed construction cost" for future assessments, since the actual bid is the fixed construction cost. Future districts costs will be fixed as approved by City Council, and property owners will be informed this summer as to their ability to lock in the cost for protection in future years.
We believe CARES will make a concerted effort to encourage people to speak against the award. It will be interesting to learn how many objections are from the 253 property owners in the district .
Please advise should you have any questions on any agenda matter.

Mr. Neylon,
I have canvassed my street, almost all are voters in my neighborhood, everyone supports your conclusions regarding the rates, because we all have utility bills. We didn't have to go far to retrieve that DATA!!
It doesn't take a genius to realize that the same lies and misinformation come from the same people and the same place.
Remember the "fecal coliform in the canals" Remember "there's no asbestos contamination" Remember "the asbestos shards are being planted"Remember "we have photographic evidence"Remember the "Glon city park" purchase Remember the "hydrogen sulfide is only an occasional nuisance" Remember the "Jolly Bridge is falling down", Remember " lets extend our terms in office by eight months"
It just keeps going and going and going.
Please feel free to add any that I missed!!!
Batte, Guidry, Hall and Neylon will bring this nightmare to a quick end.
patton1.
Here's one reason you missed regarding Butch Neylon.
He's too short to be telling the truth.
patton1, you and your little buddies are becoming more desperate every day.
Keep it up, it's great PR for the candidates for change, Batte, Guidry, Hall and the giant, Butch Neylon.
Petepan,
You have no idea what happens at City Hall.
It's naive people like you that make it easy for the likes of John Arceri and Monty Lazarus to spread their propaganda lies.
We were fooled once before, don't go for two.
Another HOME RUN from Butch Neylon!!
If you want four more years of the same crap we've "enjoyed" from Minozzi, Tucker and crew vote for Gibson, Recker and Waldack.
If you want something different vote for Batte, Hall, Neylon and Guidry.
IT'S TIME FOR A CHANGE AT CITY HALL, MOSS IS GONE LET'S FINISH THE JOB AND CLEAN HOUSE.
25yearsonmarco, if all the un-cool, negative thinking, out of touch, offensive, shameful, dog walking, problematic, laughable, dried-up retirees (all terms from your blogs - you should be ashamed) moved out of their outrageously taxed homes, who would pay for your children's schooling and parks and rec? Those dried-up retirees support the Y not only with their money, but their time.
The same dried-up people living in these highly taxed homes must have done well for themselves. I wonder how many had a teen center to visit when they were younger.
25yearsonmarco - I'm not retired. I still work to buy my meals and because I work I know first hand a number of underage youths try to buy cigarettes and alcohol. I am an empty nester, but have a grandchild to dote on. I'm not casting stones, but it's usually those who think their children are nearly perfect who know the least. I remember a few years back when some parents thought we didn't have a drug problem, but we did. Maybe, just maybe your children are intelligent and respectful because they don't hang out in a teen center. Maybe your children are intelligent and respectful because they have had full use of the Y, Mackle Park and spent time at home family and friends. By the way, what kind of example are you setting in your blog with your defensiveness, assumptions, labeling, and name calling?
25yearsonmarco, we've already gotten rid of part of the sewer mess ... the Mossy part.
Like 15yearsonmarco, our teen center was the city park. We used it daily from April thru October for tennis, swimming, basketball, baseball, horseshoes, and badminton - all outdoor activities. Did we turn out so bad?
When my son was young, our city (same pop. as Marco) decided to open a teen center. What a great idea! A place where our young people could exercise, play, socialize, and do homework - all year. The first week or so were successful, but then the 16 year olds didn't want to go where 12 year olds hung out. The older teens began smoking in the restrooms and outside. The area was littered with bottles, cans, and candy wrappers. The studious could not study because the music was too loud. But, it was a great place to pick up chicks.
In the past 25 years my hometown has had about 10 teen centers. One was burned to the gound.
Hire a babysitter or take your kids to the Y and save the tax payers $$.
So, how much did this frivilous lawsuit cost the Marco taxpayers?
The average citizen would not have taken this case to court, because the average citizen knew that we had little chance of winning.
I guess that I've been right all along, the current city council is less than average. They will prove my point again, when they decide to appeal the judge's decision!
Mr. Walnuts,
At times you are just priceless. A breath of fresh air in the fog of hydrogen sulfide. keep up the good work!!
themessiah needs to take a good lung full of the gas pumped out by the city.
sungarden5 If you are such a huge animal lover, you would know that nobody comes to the lot and removes the owls. They vacate their nests for a short time in the fall, and that is when the nests can be covered over. After you get a permit.
You are confusing owls with turtles. Someone does come and remove the turtle from your lot and relocate it somewhere else. After yoiu get a permit.
To help you recognize the difference, turtles don't have feathers.
I've just read your blog again, if you think baby alligators are adorable........
You are probably the offending realtors spouse, and you are in defence mode. Realtors are not very busy theses days and perhaps your realtor was trying his hand at comedy.
Hint......tell him not to quit his day job.
ejburger,
What business do you have?
I would want to support you.
Thank you for your input.
Stef would have been able to get the mic away from her....no doubt in my mind.
I do think we've had enough of this game though.
Are the "books" made public?
With that amount of money involved, it would be nice to make sure it all went to the right place.
How about Steve Stefanides, (Mr. Christmas) run the next dancing gala......
Ed Issler, once again, has nothing in the form of REAL FACTS regarding the need for the STRP on Marco.
Consequently, all he can do is go after the messenger.
It's typical.
They are planning to pump the hydrogen sulfide laden groundwater direct from the well points into a discharge pipe under water in our canals.
Apparently, this will reduce the hydrogen sulfide present in the street and in front of our homes.
What happens if you are a manatee living in the canal that is now being force fed a steady diet of hydrogen sulfide.
The first dead sea cow found in Marco canals will have died, according to Bill Moss of natural causes, or according to Mike Minozzi of "too much coffee"
These guys are a joke. Trouble is, they are not funny, HA HA, they are funny....in the "you must be crazy" way.
A lot of us now realize (after the last election) that Candidate Joe Batte should already be Councilor Joe Batte.
If we'd been smarter with our vote we would not be in this construction mess, we would not be laughing at our leadership during Council meetings, Quality Enterprises would have been held accountable for their actions and there would be HONESTY and OPENNESS at City Hall, where there will be some new faces soon.
Coral Aiken-Miller is married to Jim Miller, the City's project manager for the STRP.
When the new Council takes over (and the sooner the better) the City's construction projects will be re-examined. The is little doubt about the future of the STRP as we now know it.
It's safe to assume that the project manager's job will be in jeopardy.
No wonder Coral Aiken-Miller wants the next election delayed.....it's job security.
WE MARCO ISLANDERS ARE NOT THAT NAIVE!!
patton1's still trying to kill the messengers.
HE'S GOT NOTHING ELSE!!
hey Joey,
We know what the chief does.........
joeywalnuts.....the answer to your question is a very simple, YES.
However, there will probably be some difficult times as the new council "cleans up" and restores our Marco Island.
All I can say is, stay tuned and be patient!
Green light coming.
Leslie Williams is off to a great start!!
Both sides of the latest story about POP.
Quotes from City Hall and the chair of POP.
Now who could complain about this....Oh! wait there's a slew of "them" out there.
The first time she reports something "they" don't like, she will be named the new Bania.
Keep copies of everything.
Call it as you see it, Leslie, you'll feel good about yourself.
15yearsmarco,
You are right as well....BUT, can you imagine this guy working for the right Council??
The Charter has a makeover, the STRP comes off the track, the Marco Island administration is investigated, and the asbestos issue is finally resolved.
I don't mind paying the big bucks for good work, because you know what they say, "If you pay peanuts, you get the work of monkeys"
OK Issler, let her rip.......
Lolala,
You are right....January is coming.
I'll bet you if the current candidates look strong at Christmas....we'll have a new CM before you know it...!!
"You can’t put stuff in front of the voters that’s not fully explained," Litzan said..
What about the last referendum, with those two trick questions???
This new attorney would have had a field day with that one......maybe not, we all know who he works for!!
I doubt that Joeynonuts is a valid voter on Marco.
It can be a complicated process.....voting, that is!!
This is the guy that gave us "blue light coming"
What say you, Ed Issler???
happyonmarco
You are right on target. Mr. Neylon should run for council, he's smart, he's polite and he obviously knows a thing or two.
Please take a moment of your precious time and visit www.voteforbutch.com
You may discover how smart you are and what kind of man really sits around "being a blowhard"
There BEAT you all to it!!
NEWS FLASH! THE MARCO ISLAND CITY COUNCIL HAS BEEN DECLARED IRRELAVANT! NEWS FLASH!
For years the citizens of Marco Island and their opinions, desires and needs have been ignored by the City Council who led by A. William Moss have been pursuing an agenda for the Island that did not include its citizens. Shortly after Independence Day 2007, that policy was moved up to the next level by declaring the Marco Island City Council itself, irrelevant. City Supreme Ruler A. William Moss has now seized complete control of the City and will move with all haste to cement his power by forbidding even the chance of the City Council disagreeing with any of his policies.
In Sunday's Naples Daily News in the classifieds section you will find an advertisement for bids for installation of the sewers for the Lamplighter and Sheffield Districts. This advertisement appears a full week ahead of the meeting of July 16th where through the representative democratic process the City Councilors of Marco were to make or not make the decision to move forward in these districts. Obviously that decision has already been made. A prebid meeting is scheduled for the 17th further evidence that the actual vote by the representatives of Marco Island is nothing more than a formality.
In his zeal to drive home the sewering of the Island Mr. Moss has apparently acted unilaterally or with the permission of certain Councilors to not only accelerate the sewer project, but also press ahead with the elimination of the cumbersome process of representative government itself. Needless to say, Mr. Moss is omnipotent and now that he has shed the final impediment to his use and abuse of Marco’s treasure he can move ahead unencumbered to bring about his dream for Marco Island.
So there you have it, one more dictator has been born and all it took was for four elected representatives of the people to blindly follow even though the people were opposed to these policies. Now they have been eliminated from the equation, they are irrelevant, from now on, the Marco Island City Council can just mail in their acceptance of Mr. Moss’ policies.
911marco,
Shows how much you know. Mr. Dillon lives on Marco.
The upper management people at the newspapers covering Marco are quite used to the attitude from "you people"
It's all been tried before ...and went nowhere.
Try something else!!
Ed Issler,
Who is Mr. Davies? and where does this guy come into our issues here on Marco.
Please explain how you arrived at your percentages of who is on sewer in each precinct.
I am looking at the precinct map for 193, where you claim that 46% are on sewer.
According to the city's map of the Proposed Sewer Districts, all of the Estates, all of Sheffield, and all of the North Barfield district are on septic systems.
Just wondering where the 46% number came from. I realize that Precinct 193 starts at the Bridge and that area south is sewered but 46% seems high if you just look at the maps.
This is an earnest inquiry, not some sort of attack on your efforts. Please enlighten me.
This issue went to the voters....it's over.
Deal with it.
The people have spoken...time to move on!
Next vote please, just as soon as we can, it's time to clean up this mess.
Let the people decide their future.
MarcoFacts, patton1, Geezer, lauralbi1.
Is this the best you got??
If it is, this won't be a fair fight.
Please try and do better, the "silent majority" is relying on you.
Avenger,
Well in case you did not know, "lou" is none other than Ray Beaufort, Bill Moss's next door neighbor who recently switched sides and became the City's best friend.
Amen to that!!
Unbelievable... pure arrogance by Minozzi and Tucker. They don't get the message. Marco Islanders will not take this quietly into the night, you can rest assured of that. It ain't over boys, don't get too comfortable up there, you've been there too long as it is!!
lauralbi1 aka Ed Issler,
I think you should be very cautious regarding what you say about people that you openly name in public.
tinhat,
Here's a posting from Ray Beaufort shortly after the Popoff flip at the first Council meeting. Your husband isn't the only one that reads archives.
All you revisionists should take note, the records don't lie!
Mr. Beaufort does keep a very close eye on Council activities, and we should be grateful to him for his vigilance. Thank you Ray!!

Just felt I had to jump in with my two cents. Rob Popoff you lied to the voters of Marco Island. As too your statement that you never stood when asked if you would cancel the current contracts, that's BS. The question was would you stop the sewer project and you are correct you did not stand up. At that time only the South Barfield contract was issued and the email you sent to Gail Day on February 26, 2006 where you said "the current process must be stopped" was after the forums in which you did not stand up making the Gail Day letter your last public position, to my knowledge, on the sewer issue. You apparently must have felt that in order to get elected you had better jump on the anti sewer band wagon. The I did not stand up line you keep trowing around just ain't cutting it.
Posted on August 12 at 8:37 p.m.
Sorry I forgot to sign my name to my last comment.Don't want to be thought of as a coward like "ILOVEMARCO"
Ray Beaufort
Chase 100,
Chuck Keister had only been on Marco two minutes when he was elected and look at him now.
I think Hall's history speaks for it's self.
The "cause" will not suffer. We need four candidatesto come forward and then we throw everything behind them.
Holy Crap! Now this Roger Hall is one guy I would like to buy a beer for. He calls it as it is...what a change for us, especially after that deal with Popoff. If you vote for Roger Hall this next Council is going to be a whole lot different from any we've seen before. What a welcome relief. What an addition to Joe Batte this Hall guy would be. I know where two of my votes are going next year and I'm going to tell all my friends to do the same.
I'm sure that the Marco Islanders who are tired and fed up with the insults and ugly body language coming from some of our Councilors are looking forward to the new Council. Who's going to "come out" next?? This is going to be an exciting campaign season and it looks like it has started.
Bye, Bye Minozzi. Bye, Bye Tucker. Bye, Bye Terri. Bye, Bye, Trotter!!
It is rumored that the "mysterious donor" was none other than Quality Enterprises....
What do you think of that!!
striker, Gracias!
jockey.
striker,We are on the same page!
A NO, NO vote which makes the referendum fail, will allow the new enlightened Council the room it will need to stop the STRP.
strike3,
And no one will ever see it, (your red sharpied "NO STRP"). I enjoy your postings and believe me, I would love to meet you, you call it as it is!
Not voting, because that's what you are doing, is a waste of the the postage stamp, because your "undervote" that's what it's called just goes in the trash. To make matters worse, the machine counter kicks it out, a person doesn't even see it!
You have wasted a chance to say NO.
If only a hundred ballots were returned and most took your position, the "Yes" people would win, Bill Moss would win, the Council would win and the anti STRP folks, (you and me) would loose, just because you wanted to shout NO STRP!
We have been doing that for almost two years at Council Meetings and look where that got us.
I'm sorry I really don't want to rain on your parade, but there are others that have the same grand idea of writing on the ballot....you are wasting ink!
But this is America, it's your choice.
