Written on Marco Police Foundation holds 10th anniversary dinner:

I resent the continual representation of the San Marco Catholc Church and the Knights of Columbus in politics on Marco Island. This cult is running the Island into the ground rapidly. Vote them out for good.

Written on Letter to the Editor: Do what is right:

Businesses do NOT exist for ANY other reason than to make profit.....period! This is also the simple reasoning behind the statement that "businesses do not pay taxes: people pay taxes".

Any reader who does not understand these two simple statements deserves to live in the socialist hell that they seem to long for.

Incidentally, my bet is that the writer of this ill-informed article shops at Wal-Mart twice a week! I can only hope that he opens a not-for-profit donut and coffee shop on Marco so that we can all enjoy his generosity. He will probably even hire two or three "extra" union employees to serve. To hell with those greedy profits!!!!

He should really head out to NY and join the anti-Wallstreet crowd. Take along a doobie.

(Sometimes I crack myself up!)

Written on Naples-Marco Island lost 3,000 jobs since last August, one of biggest losers in Florida:

"You see, counter to the Republican talking point that government does not create jobs, our federal, state, city and county governments are probably responsible for hiring more employees then any private company on the planet."

I am thinking that this man is truly an idiot. A government "job" is exceedingly easy to create, but it does not add to the economy, but rather adds to the debt that the private sector remains responsible for.

It is this type of mindless, deranged thinking that perpetuates the liberal lie.

Written on Letter to the Editor: Not Comcastic:

While I am at at.....where is the outrage over Obama appointing Immelt as "Job Czar"? What a terrible nasty joke on the American public. Where is our unbiased press on this issue?

Immelt and GE are a DISGRACE. Obama's major campaign contributor paid no taxes on 4 billion in earnings and just shipped thousands of jobs to China along with two divisions of GE holdings.

In the meantime, Obama's NLRB is preventing Boeing from building a plant in South Carolina. They would rather it be built overseas one would think....since that is likely the end result.......and you wonder why you are talking to Comcast customer service in India? WAKE UP!

Written on Letter to the Editor: Not Comcastic:

Maybe it has something to do with minimum wage laws? Pensions? Unions? Hey....maybe Obama Care as well? Hmmmm.....just a thought.

in response to NobodysFool57:

Gee, what projects were those? The electric municipalization/undergrounding scheme(which would have given us obscene electric rates), the Town Center CRA(could have easily put us well over $300 million in bonded debt), the Smokehouse Bay "designer" bridge, or perhaps the North Water Treatment Plant capacity expansion (MIU can't sell all the water they can produce right now). Poor Rony, he's learning a hard lesson about trying to eke out a livng on "Mark-up Island" without a six-figure salary. Boo Hoo. Three cheers for Dr. Sanchez.

You are indeed "Nobody's Fool".

Thank you for your comment.

Dirty Sanchez? Who was more dirty than all the filth that ran the city from Moss down. And did not Dr Sanchez take on the city all alone and WIN,WIN. Tucker lied, lied lied and then admitted he lied.

You are correct. Yes he did "WIN, WIN". His tenacity with the politically corrupt EPA paid off in a very significant win that did NOT get enough attention from the horribly biased and controlled press.

Thank you for your post and support of a true Marco hero.

I predict that Joel has made a BIG mistake in taking on Dr. Sanchez.

The challenge. Takers? Come on. No faith? Why?

Written on Letter to the Editor: Cannot be undone:

Gee....no takes on my challenge. I wonder why. I do. Could it be that none of the Lely defenders have any faith at all in the outcome? Hmmm......and I was SOOOO hoping for a taker.....you know....someone with HONEST convictions. None of you are worth the time of day. You all talk, talk talk, bicker, bicker, bicker. True. And your names?

Written on Letter to the Editor: Cannot be undone:

Hi Blondie,

Got a challege for you:

I volunteer to do a "Man on the Street" interview session on camera at the Lely campus this coming winter. I will select students randomly and ask very simple questions about American History, Chemistry, Mathematics, Literature, etc. My bet is that this will put an end to the discussion of the value of he "diverse" Lely experience.

You see, I am not at all concerned about the "excellent" students at Lely or any other high school in America. I am concerned about the vast majority....those that do not go on to Ivy League (HIGHLY overated) schools.

Such nonsense!

Jane Watt and MIA are attempting to grow young minds. The misguided (as always with the liberal set) continually use a false interest in the environment to push their agenda. First it was the eagles, now the turtles.

Out of curiosity, what was the environmental impact of the Obama bridge on your dear Island? What cost to your grand children?

Face it. You hate the concept of what you see as an "elite academy" on Marco Island. I love it! I want to see more and more of them. I want to see smart young kids getting a great education so that they can help all of us move on from this freedom killing political correctness that a very misguided and vocal minority has propagated upon us for far too long.

The sixties generation (mine) has left a great scar upon this wonderful American experiment. I wish that it would finally come to an end!

(This comment was removed by the site staff.)

And about the plagairism?

I judge the man by his actions. He is not a man that I would want to associate with. Frankly, he is a big embarassment for Marco Island and I don't think that statement will generate a lot of outrage around here!

SOME of you seem to forget that this man has been a major reason (as a puppet of Arceri) for our $260,000,000 dollar debt as well as a vocal proponent in support of the Jackson Labs boondoggle. all this from a man who doesn't even pay taxes due to foreclosures and bankruptcy!

WHAT ARE THE VOTERS THINKING?

Courses in aeronautical engineering (RIGHT! A budding rocket scientist wasting away on our council) from a college that doesn't even offer them and THREE cases of plagairism in only the last few months in this poor excuse for a newspaper....a paper that seems to have no conscience at all. (I note that this paper is the ONLY paper listed as a source of news on the City's website.....which is kind of interesting, now isn't it?)

My disgust for our City government only continues to grow.

Written on Two Marco Island employees accuse Councilman Wayne Waldack of sexual harassment:

I am afraid that it is you who is confused. I assure you that "Cave Dwellers" never referred to condo owners. "Cave Dwellers", after all, were painted to be anti STRP, but your analysis of the bullet vote in support of screwing the SFH owners into paying for a new sewer plant is RIGHT ON THE MARK! (and they know it too....which leads me to wondsering about the integrity of the hotel owners and condo owners......and Magel and Recker....whom I USED TO respect.)

Written on Two Marco Island employees accuse Councilman Wayne Waldack of sexual harassment:

in response to Ocram:

Sorry,

Not according to the district election statistics. Block voting was the word of the day because ALL of Arceri's boys got voted in.

No....you are misunderstanding. The so called "Cave Dwellers" were opposed to the STRP and certainly did NOT want to see an Arceri puppet elected. Arceri went to the condo dwellers for the bullet vote in order to "assure" them that they would not have to pay their fair share of the project.

In addition, the "bullet vote" was used in the last election to get Magel elected. Waldach was elected in the previous election.

I have to assume that you are very new on the Island.

Written on Two Marco Island employees accuse Councilman Wayne Waldack of sexual harassment:

And how will you all respond when the City (that's you) gets sued for A FEW MILLION DOLLARS? Just curious.

So far, we have been lucky, but now that the problem has been exposed and the perpetrator remains in office and undisciplined, we have set ourselves up for a killing.

Written on None:

The author has written to the Eagle and demanded a retraction and credit for the article. They will have no choice. It will then be interesting to see what comments follow. Waldick will never resign. He has no integrity (let alone brains). The rest of the council will be totally silent as they are equally lacking in integrity and/or the courage to make a statement, with the possible exception of Kiester, who is my hero in this bunch.

I was against the formation of this City from the beginning, because I knew from past experiences with people who claim to acting in the best interest of “We the People”, always act in their own self interest first.

This is Politics 101, and Marco Island is just a microcosm of what is happening at every level of government from here to Washington.

We need to show the rest of Florida and our Country that we can stand on our own feet.

If not, stop complaining and go to the nearest “Happy Hour”.

Written on Letter to the Editor: Finally! Health care for all:

This gentleman has clearly been deceived by his party, but he will surely see the truth soon enough.

My wife's premium just increased by 30% and I am about to lose my Medicare Advantage policy.

How can any intelligent citizen believe that we can increase benefits dramatically and insure millions of new citizens (hopefully) and DEMAND that costs not increase? How? How do we cover the cost of allowing 26 year old "children" to be included in their parent's policies? How do we allow citizens to purchase a policy AFTER they become terribly ill? (I would prefer to purchase car insurance AFTER I have an accident. Is that next?) How do insist on NO maximum limits to coverage and not expect a far higher cost? Are we that STUPID?

The liberals ALWAYS are assured that there is NO cost to these programs...to them at least. The "rich" will pay for it. They take NO personal responsibility for ANYTHING!

I weep for THEIR children. Mine are watching out for themselves.

God I hate liberals. They are the ruin of this great country. It just makes me sick.

Written on Letter to the Editor: Regurgitating a Republican’s rantings :

Mr. Rell,

You are particularly uninformed. First, you had better check your facts on Wall Street contributions to political parties. Take 10 seconds and Google it.

In regard to regulation: Did not Barney Frank and Chris Dodd destroy what regulation there was and cause the housing bubble?

Incidentally, Bill (and Hillary) were on a path to destruction, but the 1994 election got their attention and Republicans controlled the spending and budget from then on. Likewise, the democrats have had control for the last four years and look where we are now.

PS The "rich" are the only ones paying taxes!

PPS I just got my wife's insurance premium for 2011. It increased by 30% and they sent along a letter threatening that I had better renew my "grandfathered" policy or expose myself to losing private insurance. Thank you democrats. I needed that.

And what is that nonsense about democrats not favoring open borders? Are you serious? Have you been watching the news at all?

A simple question that even a liberal can probably answer: If I am allowed by law to purchase car insurance AFTER I have had a wreck, do you think that insurance rates might escalate? How about if those same insurance companies are forced to provide all of us with UNLIMITED coverage. I would guess that they would go broke pretty quickly, but then who am I to surmise. I admit to not having a Harvard degree.

Finally: Just why do you think that health care is a God given rite? More importantly, when was the last time that anyone was refused medical attention? Seems to me that the NCH emergency room is CONSTANTLY filled with indigents....but why stop there? Maybe we should provide medical care to the whole world! Why not? Isn't it their right? And as long as we are doing so much good, let's start feeding the whole world for free. Isn't it a human right to have nourishment? Where have we gone so wrong? Surely the "rich" can easily afford it. We needn't go after you Mr. Rell.

Written on Letter to the Editor: A lone dissenter provides only reasonable voice:

That Councilman doesn't pay taxes due to foreclosure and bankruptcy. The citizens of Marco voted him into office as well as one other in the same boat. For that matter, two previous Councilman (it hurts to have to capitalize that) also had severe financial problems and we even re-elected them....and named our City Hall after one.

Frankly, the citizens of Marco are easily duped. Many out there probably still believe that the STRP was all about pollution. They vote....and "elections have consequences". So sad.

Written on Letter to the Editor: The downside to Amendment 4:

As for using my real name, I do on occassion, but always in other media. Look around, few people chose to use their real names in this media, that's not the way this game is normally played. Not on this site or others like it. I have been fighting our local government for many years and have found that Fossil and many other names I use, insulate my neighbors from what I write. I write as Fossil as a courtesy and not because I am afraid of anything. I speak to you on occassion and you know who I am. I understand where you are coming from and respect your personal choice to use your own name. Fossil is much nicer then I am, be glad.
