The construction is completed and they have done a beautiful job. Although we endured the frustration for many months, it was well worth the wait. The new park benches along Collier add so much to the ambiance of the island. The new Jane Hittler park is another expression of all that is beautiful here. We are so fortunate to have people with a vision who are able to make it happen.

To build some batting cages for the kids or a mini golf course. People with kids are looking for things to do and there's not much happening. The new water park at Mackle Park is wonderful for young children and hats off to the Parks & Rec Committee for that happening. But for children a little older visiting the island whose parents aren't boaters, there's nothing to do. We definitely need some more entertainment for all ages...maybe a real Irish pub with traditional music and folk music.

Cathie O'Clarke's is awful. They advertise as an Irish pub, get people all excited thinking they'll hear some good Irish tranditional music and very rarely have it. The food is expensive and very bad.
The new resturant is even worse. Go to Porky's or Michelbob's if you want good ribs. Stay away from Mel's.

Good Luck to Mr. Moss. He deserves a break from people who continue to gripe and complain about everything and everyone. If these people are so good at making suggestions, why don't they try to implement some of them. Do people really believe a new Council is going to do it for Marco. Think again. A new council will just give people a chance to complain about someone else. Negativity breeds negativity. Marco has more than its fair share of that.

Marco is a small place. And yet, there are more offerings for teens than in many larger places up north. It is the nature of teens to complain when school is out and there is "nothing to do." Someone has given a lot of thought to activities for keeping kids busy, challenging them in sports, and offering time to develop new friendships. Hats off to Marco Island Park & Rec for making summer a lot of fun for teens.

It is such a good feeling to read what is being done for children on Marco Island through the Park & Rec. Dept. The Halloween Spooktacular will hopefully bring out many families. The whole idea gives children a sense of belonging to a community and is such a positive experience in their lives. Those people who are organizing these events for children are to be commended. Children are our future.
