Written on Officials to celebrate renovations with open house at Marco Island City Hall:

Free food? Celebrate the wasteful spending of our city government? Party down everything's cool. No problems on Marco Island.
Disgraceful and very sad.
They refuse to believe the people
actually know we are broke.

Written on City Hall renovations, updated website aim to improve customer service:

I am shocked at this unnecessary expenditure!
We have our taxes raised because we are told
the city must raise money for basic services. Then you go and spend 85K on paint and clutter cleaning.
Which is it...does the City have money or are we broke? Make up your mind.
I was so excited about the progress of the new City Manager..he gave me hope.
And now this..very sad. I guess some didn't get the memo.

Written on Proposal to raise several Marco Island fees angers some in business community:

It is so weird that the Council members never think about cutting back and ending the wasteful spending ...only raising more fees and taxes. WE ARE BROKE! Your golden goose is on life support. If we were paying 100% fees and taxes..it still would not be enough.

Written on Marco Island looks to increase taxes by 20 percent, beef up reserves:

in response to marcoredeagle:

I thought we would see an improvement in the new council but no. I'm disappointed. Something must be done we can't continue spending.

Borrow and spend ... Borrow and spend. Please Please people pay attention to who is for this.

I agree my vote in the last election has not changed anything. I researched for months to be sure I would not be electing more officials
to continue the borrow and spend mentality.
This can NOT continue!

Written on Duck hunt: City trapping park’s lakeside birds:

This park was built for people especially children to enjoy nature. Not anymore. Evidently dogs are more important than kids. Trees get in the way and nature
(ducks turtles) have bacteria which is unsafe for the dogs. It's ok for kids to be exposed to giant piles of Dog crap...no health issues there. Oh yes...dogs don't bite people either
This is all so sad.

Written on Museum support hangs by strings:

Why did they begin construction it if there was never enough money in place to complete the project? I thought it was fine as long it was going to be built with donated money. But once again the donations dry up and we are forced to pay for an unneeded luxury item.
Maybe a Museum Tax is coming along with the Art tax?

Written on POLL: Marco eyes public art requirement on non-residential construction:

Is there No end to the growing Government
take over of our lives?
Art Tax on businesses that are hanging on by a thread?
That hideous Blue man outside City Hall
makes me ill. For me, it is NOT art , it is a symbol for our tax money being tossed out the window like trash!
Our Community Bank just failed. You would think that would make the council pull their heads out of the sand and face up to
what is happening to the business and citizens
on this Island and in the United States.
Doesn't any of the Council the Moral fortitude
to stand up and stop this madness!
Note: I was happy I received a reply from
Frank Recker stating he was against this "Art Tax"
One for the people out of how many????

Written on Letter to the Editor: ‘Plain’ truth:

Could anyone tell me how to get a copy of this letter? What other document do I need in order to apply for this flood rebate?
Any help would be very appreciated!
