Read the City Manager's Report today. All revenue's are coming in less (isn't that a surprise) and we still spend on pet projects and appeal a law that is absolutely meaningless. No one is dumping their waste in our waters and no one is sticking around for any length of time. Boaters probably pull in and find out that Marco Island is no longer a friendly or fun place to use as a destination.
just for the record as "nobodysfool57" has already pointed out about mr elliot and mr lazarus being on the ad hoc electrical committee, so is mr jack patterson (who also is on the board of this commercial venture). this just reaks of conflict of interest, and that is just the least of it.
Gee Sayre, you must be hitting pretty close. You've got poor Ed upset again.
Thank you Mr Petricca! You have not only brought us up to date on this important issue, but have given us all the facts to go with it. This is a total misappropriation of funds and we, the citizens deserve an answer as to how and why this has happened. We also deserve to know what City Council is going to do about it. I'm sure as soon as Mr Arceri can give Mr Waldack the appropriate information, we'll read it in a letter to the editor.......and why are there so many people in this city that don't trust our local government? Here's a perfect example. Let's get some more lamp posts and pay some more electric bills with our franchise fee.
punitive? from the city of marco island? why, they are wonderful people who have never been vindictive. with only 2 code enforcement officers, they constantly say that they would never bother with small issues, like irrigation on the wrong days, or irrigating EVERY day, or washing boats and RVs in your drive if left for a couple of days...........of course we will never hear how many septic tank failures in the last 5 years and/or how much sewage was ever released from septic tanks in 5 years. That's because it is less than 500 gallons, NOT 18,000 gallons in just a couple of hours.
........and the city couldn't wait for a year and put a hold on this huge construction project? well, when all the bonds fail and marco island is just another junk bond city, people will then have to pay dearly for important infrastructure projects. the strp would survive just fine if put off for a year or two. no ones septic tank is leaking, just the same old lift stations and sewer pressure piping.
I agree with YES. We know who convinced the council to push to get rid of "exotic" vegetation like the Australian Pines that kept Coconut Island in place for so many years. They don't want outsiders on their beach so let them keep it and deal with it themselves. When the Gulf reaches Collier Bay, we can then put a plan in place that works for all of Marco Island.
This is truly crazy. Marcoislandres is correct, code enforcement needs to worry about the foreclosed houses that are not maintained. They seem to pick and choose what is important to enforce. Last year when we were on Phase III water restrictions, they didn't bother anyone for watering on the wrong day or time. In my neighborhood alone, there were several who watered during the day on Fridays (always a non-watering day) and they still do. How can someone who creates something nice and maintains it, be given an "ultimatum" or face huge fines when others are just winked at as code enforcement drives by????
