Obama promised that the Obamacare would save us money after its first year. Now we know that was not true. Costs have risen by nearly 10% after 1 year and it's going to get much worse.

Last weekend it was revealed that MIT economist Jonathan Gruber, the chief architect of ObamaCare, backtracked on the analysis he performed two years ago. He told officials in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Colorado the price of insurance premiums will “dramatically increase” under the reforms.

Also a recent study by the insurance regulators in Ohio showed that Obamacare will push health insurance premiums up by 55% to 85% once the thing — monstrosity? — catastrophe? — abomination? — becomes fully operational in 2014.

It would appear that the vast majority of Marco residents would feel more comfortable and secure with permanently taking away his badge.

Encouraging kids to finish high school would be an excellent start. Obama now has over half the nation on some form of welfare while he demonizes being a success and all businesses.

Marco Island's proverbial welcome mat, Collier Blvd from the Jolly Bridge to Elkcam Circle, needs to be cleaned at any cost.

I can't be certain but Ed looks similar to the cop that pulled me over for (supposedly) not coming to a complete stop when actually I had been stopped for about 15 seconds while I had waved another car through in the opposing direction. Hopefully it is.

President Barack Obama makes it sound like there are millionaires all over America paying taxes at lower rates than their secretaries, however the president is being less than honest and seems to be intentionally misleading his audience.

The data tells a different story. On average, the wealthiest people in America pay a lot more taxes than the middle class or the poor, according to private and government data. They pay at a higher rate, and as a group, they contribute a much larger share of the overall taxes collected by the federal government.

There may be a few individual millionaires who pay taxes at rates lower than middle-income workers. In 2009, 1,470 households filed tax returns with incomes above $1 million yet paid no federal income tax, according to the Internal Revenue Service. That, however, was less than 1 percent of the nearly 237,000 returns with incomes above $1 million.

During Obama's presidency to date, the national debt has risen by an average of $1.723 trillion a year -- or by a jaw-dropping $1.116 trillion more per year than it rose under Bush.

Clearly, Bush was a big spender, however, there's no comparison of Obama to Bush whatsoever ... Obama makes Bush look responsible.

Total federal debt was $10.7 trillion at the end of 2008 and in a brief 2.5 years Obama has added another $4 trillion making our debt a whopping $14.6 trillion. Debt as a percentage of GDP was a painful 69 percent at the end of the Bush years, but Mr. Obama is now pushing it over 100 percent, another disgraceful historic milestone.”

As long as democrats continue to refer to sane and responsible fiscal policies as "terrorism" then there is no doubt our credit worthiness will continue to nosedive.

Recently I was pulled over by a Marco cop for "not coming to a complete stop" at a 3 way Stop sign. This was absolutely not true. Not only had I come to a complete stop, but I had allowed the adjacent car to proceed by waving him to go ahead. The driver of that car then gave me a "thank you" wave as he drove through the intersection. Afterwards, after having been completely stopped for 7 – 10 seconds did I proceed to go through the intersection.

When the cop pulled me over and I told him how the above events had actually occurred, I could see by the expression in his face that he knew he had been caught in a lie. After checking my license and registration he then let me go... Without a ticket of course.

Afterwards I couldn’t help but wonder if this was the action of a single corrupt cop or if it was actually part of a larger scheme encouraged by Marco police leadership.
