Written on Officials focus on prevention following second toddler drowning on Marco in three months :

This is a city wide issue and has nothing to do with regulating short term rentals. Pool safety especially with children is a city wide issue. Pool regulations should not be any different for owner occupied (such as the home at 1501 Caxambas) or any other home on Marco.

Written on Marco rental committee will have another ‘final’ meeting:

What happened to the idea of beefing up the current nuisance ordinances instead of making this a rental thing.....

Written on Rental committee meets Thursday:

Wonder if they are ever going to consider Reinke's proposed regulation. I sure would like the committee to focus on solving actual problems instead of just generating more regulations. See http://www.cityofmarcoisland.com/Publ...

I've never seen any comment from the committee on his proposal.

Written on Marco rental committee seeks input:

What you eliminate with a 30 day minimum period for rentals is families. Families are not the threat to the peace and quiet of neighborhoods. There are just as many bad neighbors who are annual renters, or kids of rich parents who hang out in their parents property. We should be attempting to limit the nuisances in the neighborhoods by controlling the number of cars that can be parked around a house, noise ordinance, and other easily identified nuisance issues. Written on Housing report: Homes prices up, condos down:

What's wrong with out local Realtors. Why can't they ever make their data available like everyone else in the state?

Written on Council increases reuse water rates, tables beach access:

What is happening to the 10 ft beach path on the North side of the Marriott Spa property line? Lisa Douglas never answers me about it.

Written on Marco’s wastewater plant wins state award:

The award probably is meaningless, however, I don't expect that there will be any septic systems getting awards.
