Written on Marco Island’s Community Affairs Director Bryan Milk fired after two-day suspension:

From Vice Chairman of Marco Island City Council Larry Sacher:
I want to make sure that all the citizens of Marco Island know that I had no involvement in the termination of Bryan Milk beyond the scope of a telephone conversation with our Interim City Manager, Gil Polanco. It is my understanding that Mr. Polanco spoke to each Member of Council directly as the Milk situation was unfolding, I simply gave him my views. As some have correctly pointed out, Council has no authority to intervene or direct City Staff. I was never contacted by the reporter of this article and consequently could not give a response. The Editor of the Naples News is currently working with his Staff to correct this egregious oversight.

Respectfully,

Larry Sacher

Written on Marco Island City Council candidate debates – Realtors and Chamber of Commerce host round two :

Just for the record to Mr. Issler: I have only met you once when you were trying to muster opposition to the Charter High School, we have never discussed national politics and you therefore have absolutely no idea who I support or don't support. Since I have completed a questionnaire from the NAPLES DAILY NEWS that will be published the record will show that I am a registered Republican, although I added the comment that I base my vote on the person and their platform, not their political affiliation.

Written on Letter to Editor: Why did I write it?:

In case you are not aware of it, Larry Magel, who is also President of the Island Country Club, sent a "secret" e-mail to some members of the Club, of which I am also a Member, once again threatening them that if elected I will double the cost of re-use water. This is an outright LIE! I have never been quoted or said anything about re-use water, nor have Ken Honecker or Amadeo Petricca. Magel made sure Bill Trotter's proposal to increase the rate from $1.54 was defeated as he continually misled people about the "true cost" being less than that amount, which not even City Staff could agree to!

Feel free to contact me directly: Larry Sacher (councilorlarry@comcast.net) or via my website (www.larrysacherforcitycouncil.com).

Written on Letter to the Editor: Marco Island needs a new City Council and I’m volunteering!:

I'd like to thank all of those who wrote in support of my comments and Candidacy for City Council. Since I don't have your individual e-mails I can't comment, but if you write to me: councilorlarry@comcast.net I'll send you my Newsletter and in the next one you'll see parts of my platform! If you'd like to have me call you, just let me know, I've got nothing to hide and you need to know where I stand on Marco Island issues.

Written on Resident denies sending email to council that Marco Island manager's firing was "no secret":

in response to Klabautermann:

(This comment was removed by the site staff.)

Your comments verify Steve Thompson's characterization about Marco's "ugly politics". I've tried on 2 occasions to get the papers and Kelly Farrell to print my actual comments, but they don't and apparently won't. I don't have a political agenda, and you'll also note that the articles don't refer to which e-mails they got; I had direct e-mails with Chairman Recker in which he specifically said that nothing could be decided outside of a public forum and I merely expressed my opinion in support of terminating Thompason.
