Paul,Thanks for your great letter. You have spoken the truth and identified most of the key issues that have so enraged to good citizens of Marco Island. So many of us came to Marco to enjoy our retirement years yet we have found ourselves in the midst of constant battles with a city manager and certain city councilors who have lost all sense of reality and fiscal responsibility. To make matters worse they have publicly stated that they have no interestin hearing about the concerns of the good citizens of Marco Island. Instead of a comfortable retirement we are living in what looks like a war zone and struggling to deal with increasing fees and utility taxes that will probably offset the State mandated property tax reductions and then some.
Election Day is January 29, 2007. YOU can make a difference. You, your registered voter family members, friends and acquaintences need to get out and VOTE FOR CHANGE. Together, we can make Marco Island the place we all wanted to retire to - again.

Well said Dale. You have hit many of the key nails squarely on the head. Some members of our current city council, led around by the city manager, are out of control. They are panicing because they have virtually bankrupted the city in their desparate effort to accomplish the STRP and other major contracts with a company whose name "Quality" Enterprises is nothing more than a joke. The thought of cutting back is the farthest thing from their minds.

Re: Geezer's comments above. The only liars we are dealing with here on Marco Island are the City Manager, Director of Public Works (Joel) and the "big four" councilors: Tucker, Minozzi, Trotter and Popoff.Butch Neylon IS an expert on construction issues. Both he and Roger Hall are experts on what's right and what's wrong and they are experts on the Truth - a quality that is in very short supply in our City government. Geezer, get your head out of the sand and see the light.
I have to agreee with the two previous comments but in all seriousness it's a simple matter of the City Manager and Council getting in touch with reality (maybe that's really that simple) and cutting back on their out of control spending binge. The City is effectively bankrupt at this point in time.
Marcoman, you do not have the courage of your conviction (pun intended) to state your name at the end of your diatribe. The tone of your message leads me to suspect John Arceri or Tarik Ayasun. Step out in to the sunshine (another pun intended) so we can "see" your face.
