I think Collier County makes a fantastic site for a set of horror comics!

Of course, he needs to have those zombies drive the main character from Pelican Bay out to Golden Gate Estates (my neck of the woods) and enter the lands of "yee-haw!", 40 foot Confederate flags fluttering on top of moving pickup trucks, bears and bobcats! Oh wait -- that's not a satirized graphic novel -- that's real life! :-)

Just kidding folks - although I think I met a zombie from Pelican Bay once with a zombie pink poodle, but I just can't be sure if it was real, or if it was Memorex...

Thanks for the saturday morning chuckle!

Great advice - it's just what I needed to find out about too! (I was never sure whether to fertilize citrus over the winter) --- and getting the "magic month" to plant vegatables always escaped me. I'd either start too early (August) or too late (Dec/Jan). Now I know that it's OCTOBER that's the magic month.

Very good looking site and fast loading!

I'll put a preliminary mention of it on http://free.naplesplus.us (as that will help you get great exposure on Google) on the 'Naples Websites' section, using your "About Us" information.

whew - it was like a mini-college course. I've been wondering how to feed my banana plants so that they actually produce bananas! I've been using palm tree fert four times a day - but only a sprinkling of it, spread thinly out to the furthest leaves. I do the same for the citrus trees (who are also not blooming!) with citrus fertilizer.

this stuff can be confusing as heck! I'm just happy to finally have mostly mastered pool chemicals :-)

Any chance for a picture of this beetle?

I've got slash pine dying in my backyard (we figured that the weird weather was killing them) and would like to be able to identify the beetle responsible and take measures against it.

Hey! Don't knock the TRS-80's - they're at least twice as fast :-)

Actually, I can't complain. My site ( http://free.naplesplus.us ) is dang slug in a world of rocket sleds. But that's 'cause I'm cheap. My hosting service is inexpensive and gives me lots and lots of space. Still, my site is faster than NDN, but then again, I don't have moving flash animations everywhere and the like.

A "text only" version button would not be a bad idea. I always take the "styles" off of a page when its loading slow. [it's the fancy fonts, multiple css layers, etc that makes it slower. I have the same problem - it's a tradeoff.]

I really want to thank you guys for percolating (love the phrase, as perked coffee is still my favorite - you don't French Press stories :) ) stories daily.

Once an hour, I ping your servers for a feed for my site, http://free.naplesplus.us - in the process of trying to capture ALL news from within Collier County. [in fact, there's SO MUCH - my website sometimes has some very slow response times as it tries to catch up with the news.

Some of the most interesting reading comes from your paper's RSS feed, and I really hope I can continue helping get people, who otherwise might not read your paper, to get to your website through mine, read the articles you guys/gals work so hard at and perhaps even help you sell a subscription or two or ten.

I really appreciate your hard work, and for allowing folks like me the ability to utilize snippets of your articles.

Thanks again - and please keep up the good work!

Well, the next question is: What's worse?

Attemping to rob a bank?

Or walking into a bank with your communicable (sp?) disease - TB in tow - and handling checks, cash, t-haaaaaa-alk-hhhhuuuu-ing to the teller (breathing all over her/him), using THE NAKED, UNCLOTHED HAND, disease ridden, to *gasp* open the very same front door handle that YOU are about to use, 30 seconds later?

Hard to say.

At least with the robbery, it's the human's intentions that are in control.

With the TB, it's the "bug"'s intentions to spread, mutate and thrive that are in control.

Blech, yuck, ugh.

Personally, I think the robber was just trying to support his family. No more construction jobs here. Hoped to flip his house and make a buck, but now he's stuck. [especially when he found out the Flip This House show was a fraud!] and had to do SOMETHING to pay the insurance company.

He didn't know what to do until he called his insurance carrier and said, "I can't pay! What can I do?"

And the insurance agent replied?

"I don't care. Go rob a bank or something."

In the right hands, camera systems like the ones they're trying to get working on the bridge, are a good idea.

They can be used to monitor traffic flow and patterns, change the timing of traffic lights to better reflect the reality of the traffic situation at that time.

In the wrong hands, they can be used to monitor traffic violations and issue automatic tickets to speeders, those without taillights and whatnot.

But - at the same token, they can help follow a kidnapper and perhaps get a picture of his/her face.

It's like a knife. It can cut food, or it can cut a person. It's an item with many uses, some good and some some not so good.
