I'm sick and tired of people voting for candidates just because of how they look and not learning what they are all about and their political views. If you think Mitt Romney looks questionable, then what about Obama's big ears and Biden's false teeth?!

YOU need to go see the movie 2016!!

Written on Obama hits Romney with new Medicare study:

Everyone should see the movie 2016 at the theaters. The general media won't speak of it so it's up to you to go see it. It is very enlightening! They should show it on TV.

Written on Clinton boosts Obama in rousing convention speech :

I've been watching the Democratic Convention. It's been all about women and their rights. They claim there is a "War on Women". It's ridiculous because Romney & Ryan are not going to change anything with women's rights while they are in office.

Last night Clinton gave a speech. I find it ironic that Obama would have Clinton speaking when you consider what happened with Monica Lewinski and the two other women he was accused of having sexual relations with while in office. Especially since his convention has been touting women's rights. Also did you hear that Obama had the word "God" taken out of his platform? When people at the convention found out some of them made a stink. So they had to vote the word back in. I find it also ironic that everyone that has gotten up on stage have ended their speeches with "God Bless America". It's obvious Obama doesn't feel that way.

Here's some info on Clinton that so many people have forgotten. I haven't. He's a likable guy yes, but so is Obama on the surface.

THE FACTS: Clinton, who famously finger-wagged a denial on national television about his sexual relationship with intern Monica Lewinsky and was subsequently impeached in the House on a perjury charge, has had his own uncomfortable moments over telling the truth. "I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky," Clinton told television viewers. Later, after he was forced to testify to a grand jury, Clinton said his statements were "legally accurate" but also allowed that he "misled people, including even my wife."

Written on Collier mosquito season gets early start but too early to say if bad summer is ahead :

Though I appreciate that they have been spraying from the helicopter on the weekends, I'm surprised they are doing it around 7 am in the morning. That's about the time when people are out walking their dogs, etc. They used to spray earlier around 5 am. I'm sure it's not good being outside while they are spraying.

Written on Letter to the Editor: More public beach access:

in response to marco97:

Marcia the City has no say in the residents beach, the name is misleading since you do not need to be a resident to join. It is a private beach club and only requires that you are staying on the island to join.

That's funny. For the past nine years we have had to show proof of owning a residence here in order to join the Residents Beach Club. As far as I was always told, people renting could not join.

Written on Marco Island draft compliance code would better define junk and ways to remove it:

More Regulation for a few isolated problems. I think these guys would stay busy all day if they would enforce the rules on the book already.
Big Dollar Donna might get lost getting out of her car but when the County was in charge they did keep the abandoned Lots/Houses mowed. I have two Houses on my Street that haven't been cut sense last year.
Another example of The City shooting from the Hip without looking at the problem in slow calm deliberation.
Seriously we spent a $Billion Dollars on a sewer system no one know will work.
i'm personally dreading Red Tide season , which have been getting worse as more Barrier Islands go to Sewers and away from the 'Ol Tried and True.

I've noticed the past couple of years code enforcement on Marco has become lacked. We see cars for sale on empty lots just off of Barfield, grass in yards two feet tall, cars and boats parked in the swales and empty lots. Five years ago if you had done that you would have received a letter with a photo in the mail saying you better comply or else you would be fined. What happened?

Last week the police chased somebody breaking into cars down to our street. They caught him at our neighbors house around 11 p.m.. They were outside with him until 1 am. I wonder why that didn't make the "Police Beat" news? I looked and never saw anything. I had to find out from my neighbors two days later what it was all about. I park my car outside. He could of broken into my car! Thanks for letting the public know!

Written on Eye on the pie: Italian Deli creates authentic New York-style pizza:

We go there once a week. My husband is from New York and very picky about food. He was in the deli business since he was 21 years old but now does car accessories and has a lunch truck business. Besides the pizza being the best on Marco and in Naples, the stromboli is to die for. Their antipasto salad is delicious for those watching their weight! The year-round folks on Marco know where to go for good pizza and it's the Italian Deli on Collier Blvd. just south of Joey's Pizza!

Written on Arthrex considers expanding outside of Collier as county focuses on Jackson Lab:

in response to ajm3s:

Now this is a great showdown. Keep on your toes. The only thing that does not make sense to me is that if Anthrex is providing high paying jobs it should not have a problem attracting 50 machinists jobs. Did I lose something in the translation?

But I do not want to diminish the fact that Jackson Labs without a business plan has all the backing of Collier County but Anthrex with a record of performance is an orphan.

Keep your eyes wide open, because everyone is looking for incentives and the county is choosing who is the winner. I vote for Anthrex just because it has a business plan with a record of performance.

The Jackson Lab deal looks like a land deal with the county providing the grease to quiet squeaky land owners.

Citizens must be vocal and loud to stop this madness.

Arthrex would like to expand more locally but the Barron Collier Family is even keeping them from buying a lot for sale next to Arthrex's Manufacturing building. Arthrex needs to build a parking garage because they have no more room for parking to hire more employees! Arthrex offered them their asking price and they said no. Talk about dirty politics! I'm not surprised Arthrex is mad.

Written on Naples Tea Party And Jackson Labs (Freedom Tea Party):

Jackson Labs is a not-for-profit research facility that breeds and sells genetically altered mice for basic science research. Selling mice for experimentation is their primary source of revenue and they are dependent on supplemental funding from public and private sources to meet annual expenses.

Jackson reduced their employment last year by laying off 50 employees due to budget cuts required by reduced sales of lab mice.

Jackson is not considered the premier genetics research facility in the genetics industry. Jackson labs is known for breeding and selling genetically altered mice for lab
experimentation. They also have much larger competitors that produce lab mice such as Charles River labs International.

Why Collier County?
The Barron Collier Company and the EDC took unilateral
initiatives to invite Jackson Labs to expand to Ave Maria.
The offer of free land in Ave Maria and potential state and local taxpayer funding created Jackson Labs interest in pursuing the project. Jackson had no long term strategy or business plan to move to Florida. They simply have been enticed by a lucrative economic incentive proposed by BCC and the EDC.

On a human basis, private donation to NCH will provide greater heathcare benefits to the community than to JL basic research. When genetics related technology is proven safe and effective by the FDA after a decade of clinical validation trials and becomes commercially available, NCH will have sufficient funds to purchase the technology to the benefit of everyone in the community.

Jackson Labs continues to control the message to tax payers of Collier County and has failed to produce a promised business plan to the Productivity Committee and the public that charts their strategy for a ROI and economic stimulus to the community in return for $130 Million dollars of local tax payer funding and $120 required in private donations from our residents. How far would JL get if they were seeking funding from traditional venture capital funding sources on Wall Street without a business plan or reasonable evidence of commercial success and ROI? Why should our Collier County tax payers accept anything less?

Written on Jackson Labs topic of Marco Police Foundation luncheon:

A previous Naples Daily News on-line article disclosed the intent of our local government to charge a 5.8% electric utility bill increase as of July 1 to finance the funding for Jackson Labs to come here. I oppose the use of taxpayer dollars to fund an out of state genetics research company with limited prospects of an economic diversification impact on our community. New employment would be limited to relocation of microbiologists with advanced degrees or other scientists with research experience with lab mice, with minimum employment opportunities for our local community and with considerable expense to the state and local tax payer. We need to challenge the local and state political support of this risky venture versus supporting established local businesses with proven history of contributing to the local economy as major employers, supporters of many local charities and contributors to medicine, without local or state funding, with outstanding growth and employment prospects for the future.

Written on VIDEO: Collier commissioners approve innovation zones; discuss genetics lab:

The new jobs would be limited to relocation of microbiologists with advanced degrees or other scientists with research experience with lab mice and not many opportunities for our local community. This would be a large expense for our state and local tax payers. We should support established businesses with a proven history of contributing to the local economy and local charities. They have not received any local or state funding. These local companies have had outstanding growth and employment with prospects for the future.

"My question is what triggers transport by air to Lee Memorial rather than going to our fine local hospitals?"

Lee Memorial is the only "Trauma" center South of Tampa. That is why he was sent there. Wait till he sees his Life Flight bill from Collier County EMS. Blue Cross Blue Shield of FL told me they are "out of network" so they only cover a low percentage of the bill. They also said that Collier County EMS charges too much and have a monopoly in Collier County since they are the only ones. We need some competition to lower the costs!

Written on Bye, Bill Moss: Good-natured ribbing, praise showered at farewell luncheon:

Those of you who oppose septics did not attend Butch Neylon's informational meeting a couple of weeks ago at Mackle Park. It was very enlightening and full of facts. Everything he showed us - photos, charts, graphs, etc. made common sense. There's no way I would want sewer on Marco knowing what I know now. Already there have been sewer spills from the Tigertail area. We will have broken pipes out the wazoo since our ground seems to shift easily. After Wilma many homes had the ground sink around them and pulled their pipes along with it.

Oh, by the way, I saw Bill Moss and his wife looking at new Lexus' this past weekend at Germain. He looked like a farmer needing a John Deer tractor more than a luxury vehicle!

MarcoAvenger. I guess you don't keep up with all the news on Marco. Quality Enterprises keeps getting away with things. Like not being responsible for the extra costs of the de-watering fiasco though it says they should pay for such things in their contract. Instead Moss and his council members think the residents on those blocks should pay for the extra costs of having environmental experts check the air quality. The police came back later (once the kid woke up and worked out his story with his parents) and they said he had been 4-wheeling somewhere else that night. Talk about parents being enablers! Years ago I had my profile on Match.com. I am a tall female (5' 10") and it said so on my profile. After being on a few dates with different people, I received an e-mail from a gentleman who was interested in my profile. His e-mail address was "littlevicks." Since he did not have a profile on Match.com I asked him to send a picture. Every image he sent, I could not open. We went back and forth trying to figure out why since I am a graphic designer and had all the software needed. He explained to me that "little vicks" was the name of his vending business and went on to ask me out for lunch. I gave in and said OK. Normally I would have seen a picture first.

My friends at work wanted to go to the same restaurant and check him out. I got to the restaurant first and there drives up a white van with "Little Vick's" on the side. Much to my horror, a midget came out and introduced himself. I let him know how upset I was but sat through lunch with him. He was big on himself and thought he was the cat's meow. Needless to say, my friends showed up and the hostess almost seated them to the table next to us. They told the hostess to pick another table. When I got back to work my friends said they didn't know whether to laugh or cry!

Now when I see midgets on TV I get sick to my stomach! I couldn't believe a year later I saw him in Naples again. Luckily he didn't see me. That's my Match.com story! I'm sure plenty of other people have stories.
