Thanks so much to Marco Community Bank for this generous donation. City Kids' Tennis is a wonderful program, and it was one of the first programs I was honored to vote on when I was first a city councilor in 2002. Kelly Townsend was my daughter's first coach and was wonderful. Coach Wayne took over and was great, and he is still our Island kids' coach. Thanks again MCB for stepping up to the plate to be sure that our City Kids' will continue to have this great quality program.

Thank you, Heidi, for all your hard work on behalf of our kids on Marco Island and the surrounding Naples area. I've known you since you were President of Mothers of Marco, and you were helping families well over 14 years ago. You not only fundraise for TBE but also for the Charter Middle School. You set a great example of selflessness and volunteerism for our Island.
Thanks for everything.

Great letter Barb. I have been teaching my daughter since she was little to pick up trash. We frequently walk our neighborhood picking up trash. We can set many examples for our children, and you've come up with more really good ideas.

Thanks.

The City Council made an excellent decision last night. After working with Dana Souza for the past 5 years, I know his work ethic, and they chose an excellent person as interim manager. I am sure that this will be one of many good decisions made by this council.

Mr. Erickson had emailed the council regarding moving the voting to Jan. in conjunction with the presidential primaries. I wrote back to him to tell him that I was going to recommend that we go to the Jan. date. I called the city attorney to ask if our Charter allowed us to do so. He said that the State legislature has allowed cities to pass by ordinance a change in the voting date. It was on the last agenda to move it to the Jan. date and save the taxpayers $30,000. We ran out of time at that meeting and continued it to the next agenda. I agree, it's a lot of money to throw away to keep the election in March. It will be on the June 18th agenda, and I intend to support the change.

Either you are new residents, or you don't remember that I have been on the losing end of votes by a 6-1 or 5-2 vote. I do my homework, listen to the people and try to do the right thing. You are discussing the STRP, and you consider me to be on the dark side. That's your opinion. I voted for the STRP for about 2 years, then when residents became upset with the cost of the program, I asked to have it put on hold at least three times. When I realized that it would not be supported by the rest of council to stop until we had the financing settled, I tried to come up with more equitable financing plans on my own. That led to the new plan for June 26th referendum. Based upon everything I've read, I believe that sewers are the best thing for Marco. You may disagree, but I believe that it's the best thing for the long term.

What is your issue with the kids going to Lely High School? Probably 95% of the parents I know whose kids go there are very happy. They went through a difficult time with 6 principals in 5 years, but they seem to have a stable Principal now with Ken Fairbanks. I saw in the paper that he is in the new Leadership Marco class, so he obviously wants to learn more about our city and its residents. That is our districted school, and I think that if the Marco residents take more of an interest there, that they could make it an even better school than it is now.

I'm not sure why you don't want your name identified here. What do you have to hide? It would be nice to know who I'm talking to.

First of all, I chose not to take the CPA exam. I went into private accounting after graduating one of the best businesses colleges in the country, Bryant College (now Bryant University) with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting. There was no need for me to even take the CPA exam. Secondly, it is sad that with a $25,000,000 budget that we can't spend $150,000 for our teenagers. I was asked to be on a Blue Ribbon Panel for Teens over 7 years ago, and parents and teens unanimously agreed that they needed a teen center. Perhaps, Oracle, you could sign your letters with your actual name instead of hiding behind a fictional one. It's so sad that you would call me a loser. I have never acted as though I am God. God is the one I pray to for angry, mean people such as yourself that your heart be healed, and that you would treat others as you would want to be treated. God bless you!
