Oil spill: Artificial reefs may mitigate life lost

Published July 2, 2010

The artificial reef, serving as an underwater memorial, placed by Poseidon's Garden in March was once in a desert-like portion of the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico off Sanibel Island. Matt Blaisdell, owner of Poseidon's Garden, wants BP to duplicate that creation of life to mitigate the marine life lost due to the ongoing Deepwater Horizon oil gusher catastrophe.
