Mary Ann Wood LeTellier Small
Mary Ann Wood LeTellier Small died. Born May 18, 1923. Died September 8, 2021.
That's all Mary wanted published for her obituary, but these things are written by the living and we have a few more things to share.
Mary was one of three "Wood girls" from Milwaukee. Later, she was "mother" to her kids, "grandma" to the next generation and "GG" to her great grandkids. She lived well. A great, big, charmed life. She was very lucky, and smart enough to recognize good fortune and put it to use, sharing the spoils with her family and friends. She traveled everywhere and along the way she found true love with Mason LeTellier and Rudy Small. She tried everything and clung to her favorites: golfing, reading, competing (always competing!) and partying in the humid, sexy air of southwest Florida, eating oysters and chocolate, and drinking scotch. She bought Dot's pretzels from Sunshine Hardware and steaks out of the back of a car. She had impeccable posture. She knew herself, and her loving family visited as often as possible, learning all we could.
Her good luck brought privilege and she put it to use volunteering, donating and building lasting relationships that kept her happy and strong for 98 years. She was never boring. She did whatever she wanted to, whenever she wanted to. She didn't mince words, and silence meant she had nothing nice to say.
Mary is survived by her kids, their kids, and their kids' kids. We'll miss her loud, throaty laugh. We'll miss her generosity. We'll miss her eternal happiness and contentment, living on her own terms.
A few tips we've picked up over the years. Use them wisely:
- Sit up straight and always put your shoulder blades to the back of the chair
- Never trust a man who says "trust me"
- Money is for spending
- If you need a walker, get one with a drink holder
- Find your interests and make good friends to share them with
- Enjoy yourself! If you aren't having fun, change your life

We love you, Mary!
