Thomas Paul Pflieger (Tom)
Thomas Paul Pflieger (Tom) passed away on September 3, 2021 due to complications from a recent fall. Tom, a native New Yorker, has called Naples, FL home for the last several decades.
Tom was born in 1929 to Janet McNeir and Jean Paul Pflieger and was the stepson of Pierrepont Isham Prentice (Perry), former publisher of Time magazine. Upon graduation from The Hill School in Pottstown, Pennsylvania in 1948, he attended Yale University before enlisting in the United States Army. After his military service, Tom was a career executive at CertainTeed in Pennsylvania until his retirement in 1989.
Tom grew up spending his summers at Quantuck Beach Club in Westhampton Beach, New York, fostering an early love of the ocean which drew him to Naples. Tom was an avid tennis player and golfer, and could frequently be found engaging in competition at Westhampton Country Club, Overbrook Golf Club and later Naples Golf Club. In later life, he discovered a passion for painting and sculpture.
Tom is predeceased by his son Thomas and his wife of over 50 years, Elaine. He is survived by his sister Monique Pflieger Leaman; nephew, John Ely Pflieger Jr. and five great nieces and nephews.
There will be no public funeral services held. The family asks for donations to be made in remembrance of Tom to Avow Hospice in Naples, FL.
