Robert Earl Brissette, 81, of Stratham and Naples, FL, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 20, 2022 from cardiac complications, which he fought valiantly for decades. Born in Malden, MA on September 19, 1940, the son of the late Earl and Frances (Coste) Brissette. Raised in Malden, MA he attended Malden High School, where he graduated with the Class of 1958 before enlisting with the United States Coast Guard. Bob served his country proudly, stationed out of the USCG Academy, New London, CT, working as a Commissaryman, Petty Officer 3rd class on the icebreaker, Eastwind, from 1958 through 1960. His tour took him around the globe, most notably to Thule, Greenland and the South Pole. Bob continued serving in the USCG Reserve and was honorably discharged in 1964. Bob started his career working at a machine shop in Lawrence, MA followed by Block Engineering as a draftsman while attending night school and selling fruits and vegetables on the weekends. He attended Wentworth Institute of Technology from 1962-1967 earning his ASME, Mechanical Design Engineering followed by 3 years at Northeastern University resulting in a BS in Engineering. His professional career began at American Science & Engineering, Aerospace Division, in Cambridge, MA where he worked on the world’s largest x-ray telescope which was launched from the Cape Kennedy Space Center. Later, as the VP of Technical Products Division at Dyonics in Andover, MA he went on to lead the development of the first Powered Shaver System and disposable cutting blades for arthroscopic surgery. It was here he collaborated with renowned arthroscopy doctor, Dr. Lanny Johnson. He continued working in arthroscopy with Questus Technologies of Marblehead, MA developing and manufacturing products for 3M. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to found his own companies, Boston Endo-Surgical Technologies and Quid Novi. As President & CEO, Bob successfully led the manufacture and marketing of ground-breaking reusable and disposable devices for both orthopedic & spinal surgery. In 2011, BE-ST was acquired by Precision Engineered Products. Following retirement, Bob bought a Harley Davidson motorcycle. This became a passion, making many motorcycle trips including to the famed Sturgis in South Dakota and bravely, to the top of Mount Washington. An avid golfer, Bob enjoyed his time on the course with great friends at Far Corners in MA, Abenaqui Country Club in NH and Naples Heritage Golf & Country Club in FL. He was especially proud to teach and watch his grandson master the game. His love of cooking began in the Coast Guard. He became an accomplished chef in the years that followed, a natural talent, never using a recipe and coining himself Chef Roberto. He enjoyed discussing politics and the financial markets as well - but most of all, he loved his family, his wife, Beverly and their treasured friends. Bob was a kindhearted man, generous of spirit and philanthropic. He spent many years giving back to his community by providing and serving meals for Crossroads House in Portsmouth, NH. A spiritual man, he attended church and bible study regularly. Bob often reflected on his life and cherished memories, never forgetting how blessed he was. Surviving family members include his daughter, Michelle Sullivan and her husband Dan of Kittery, ME; granddaughter Jessica McIntyre, her husband Joey and their daughter Juliette of Newmarket, NH; grandson Joshua Sullivan, his wife Ali and their newborn son Connor of Amesbury, MA; his brother Paul Brissette and his wife Diane of Saugus, MA; many cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his wife Beverly (Buckley) Brissette and his brother Peter Brissette. Visiting hours will be from 4-7 PM on Friday, June 24, 2022 at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home, 811 Lafayette Rd, Hampton, NH 03842. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Bethany Church, 500 Breakfast Hill Rd, Greenland, NH 03840. Burial will follow at 12:30 PM at Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, MA. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
