The Marco Island Foundation for the Arts named JRobert Houghtaling its Artist of the year and will recognize him during MIFA’s Scholarship/Artist of the Year Luncheon on May 21.

Musician JRobert is MIA's artist of the year and will be honored along with MIFA scholarship winners on May 12.

Each spring, MIFA sponsors a special luncheon to recognize a local artist and give scholarships to local students majoring in the arts.

The luncheon will be on Saturday, May 21, beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the Wesley United Methodist Church, 350 S. Barfield Drive.

JRobert is a musician, composer, songwriter and producer who often volunteers to play during special events on Marco Island and in Naples.

He has been providing over 15 years of singing, playing acoustic and electric guitars, violin and steel drum. Most recently he played for Marco Island’s 50th Anniversary Gala, Goodland Arts Alliance’s Annual Harbor Arts and Music Festival and the Cultural Carnivale sponsored by the Cultural Alliance of Marco Island and Goodland.

JRobert is an amazing musician, writing his own original music and lyrics, usually about Florida, Marco Island and the Ten Thousand Islands.

His music reflects musical insights into the Florida way of life. And his enthusiasm tells you that he loves to perform. His smile and fun music are contagious!

The public is invited to attend this special event, which is always a lot of fun. Guests will enjoy a wonderful lunch provided by Stonewalls Restaurant, meet the scholarship winners and JRobert.

Don’t be surprised if JRobert shares some of his music during the luncheon.
