1. Sunday: 'Marco Island Car Show'

The Marco Island Car Show is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 19, at the Marco Healthcare Center. The show will be from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Over 200 cars will be on display for the public to view and photograph. The Kiwanis Club will be serving hamburgers, hot dogs and homemade chili. The Italian American Club will be serving hot coffee, cakes and homemade Zeppoles.

As in previous years there is no fee to enter your car and trophies will be awarded in 20 categories.  If you own a vehicle that is your pride and joy this is your opportunity to join other car enthusiasts in showing some of the finest cars in Southwest Florida.

Spectators will enjoy the fantastic Celtic Spirit Irish dancers who will return for their 5th year as well as the Marco Island Charter High School band and cheerleaders.

This show has enabled Kiwanis to purchase educational materials such as books and computers for many children in the area. Come out and help Kiwanis help kids.

2. Tuesday: Spaghetti dinner is served

The Knights of Columbus San Marco Council #6344 will host a spaghetti dinner fundraiser for charity in the San Marco Parish Center from 4:30 until 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 21.

The cost will be $12 per person with $5 for children under 12. Dinner includes spaghetti with marinara sauce, meatballs, Italian sausage, salad, Italian bread, and dessert with beverages and cash bar. Take out is also available. This event is open to the public and everyone is invited.

3. Saturday: Blessing of the Fleet

All boaters and boating organizations on Marco Island are invited to participate in the 2017 Marco Island Blessing of the Fleet on Saturday, Feb. 18, sponsored by the Marco Island Yacht Club (MIYC). The Blessing of the Fleet is a traditional invocation of good fortune for boaters. The Marco Island Yacht Club bridge will be in formation as the boats pass in review after Chaplain Richard Blauw has blessed the fleet. The vessels will assemble in the Marco River between Factory Bay and the Jolley Bridge beginning at 10 a.m. and then parade past the Marco Island Yacht Club at 11 a.m. The parade will be led by the Marco Island Fire Dept. vessel, “J.W. Adams,” and the Marco Island Princess. Boating organizations are encouraged to participate and have their vessels grouped together in the presentation.

Participants and spectators are invited to stay for a buffet lunch at the MIYC and enjoy a “Concert in the Courtyard” featuring the Marco Strummers. A reservation is required by calling 239-3940199. The buffet lunch is priced at $28, and non-members may pay by credit card. There is no charge for boats to register and participate in the event. Boaters wishing to participate should register as soon as possible. The Blessing of the Fleet will be limited to 30 boats.
