3 To Do: Meals of Hope happy hour
1. Monday: Meals of Hope happy hour
Marco Island Meals of Hope’s next “Happy Hour for Hope” will be from 5 until 7 p.m., Monday, March 27, at Gino’s Trattoria, 969 N Collier Blvd., Marco Island.
Gino’s will make available drinks at happy hour prices and a delicious spread of hors d'oeuvres. Rosetta Stone will provide entertainment. These are fundraisers for Marco Island’s Meals of Hope. The $10 admission fee helps the organization buy food for its packaging event in November.
Marco Meals of Hope is a joint effort of Kiwanis, Noontime Rotary and Sunrise Rotary Clubs.
2. Saturday: Art in the Glades
Come to historic Everglades City from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., Saturday, March 25, for Art in the Glades when hand-made crafts and local artworks will be on offer.
Let the kiddies play on the swings in McLeod Park while you browse among the booths under the pavilion and then enjoy hotdogs and baked goods for lunch while listening to live music.
Vendors are invited to set up a table.
Information: Marya at 239-695-2905 or evergladeshistorical.org.
3. Now playing: Marco Players ‘Driving Miss Daisy’
“Driving Miss Daisy” by Alfred Uhry; directed by Beverly Dahlstrom, on stage through April 2, Wednesday through Saturday, 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m.
Players veterans Don Manley (“Twelve Angry Jurors,” “Seascape”) and Marilyn Hilbert (“A Christmas Cactus,” “Sunset Park”) play protagonists Hoke Coleburn and Daisy Werthan. She is tart-tongued traditionalist, as dowager Jewish matriarch of the Werthan family, to his droll pragmatist as her chauffeur. Still during an era when civil rights began to redefine race relationships they develop an unlikely, if occasionally prickly, friendship.
