3 To Do: Teen artists, Earth Day and an arts extravaganza
1. Starts Monday: High School Scholarship Show
Marco Island Center for the Arts will be exhibiting the work of Collier County High School junior and senior aspiring artists from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., April 23-27, during its long running scholarship show.
A reception will be held from 5:45 until 7 p.m., Friday, April 27. An award ceremony will take place promptly at 6. This scholarship program was established in 1983. Since then, over $200,000 has been given to eligible students.

Funding for the program comes from private donations and/or sponsors and gives students an opportunity to exhibit their work and compete for awards. Scholarship money is given to the winning seniors and a $250 check each are given to the junior merit winners. Honorable Mention winners receive gift cards.

2. Visit Rookery Bay in celebration of Earth Day
From 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., Friday, April 20, in celebration of Earth Day (which is Sunday), the Rookery Bay Environmental Learning Center offers “buy one, get one free admission.”
Bay Environmental Learning Center is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday and is located at 300 Tower Road, one mile south of the intersection of U.S. 41 and Collier Boulevard.

3. This weekend: 15th Annual arts extravaganza
Award-winning artist Tara O’Neill, is hosting her 15th Annual Art Extravaganza at the historic Little Bar Restaurant, 205 Harbor Place, Goodland, from 1 until 4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, April 21 and 22.
This year O’Neill will be joined by nationally recognized guest artist, Popo Flanigan, of Naples. Their combined coastal interpretations will cover a spectrum from the dramatic to the whimsical.
