Happy Hour for Hope

Marco Island Meals of Hope’s July “Happy Hour for Hope” will be from 5 until 7 p.m., Monday, July 30, at Stonewalls, 551 S. Collier Blvd., Marco Island. Happy Hours for Hope are fundraisers for Marco Island’s Meals of Hope. The $20 admission fee helps the organization buy food for its packaging event in November. A 50/50 drawing is always offered. Meals of Hope will also have a cumulative 50/50 drawing to build until the winner is selected at the packaging event on Nov. 17. ‘Big, Bold & Beautiful’

From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., now through July 31, at Marco Island Center for the Arts, 1010 Winterberry Drive, Marco Island. Large and powerful pieces, stunning murals, and massive canvases will envelop our Lauritzen & Rush Galleries with gallant colors and imaginative scenes.  Artists Alyssa Baladad, Susan M. Gross, Betty Newman, Timothy M. Parker and Eric Walton express the “three B’s” in their artwork and outlook. Their creations will be four feet or larger showcasing a strong sense of design and an evocative use of color and light. All artwork is for sale unless otherwise noted. In La Petite Galerie: Sarasota Artist Gail Coppock explores the smaller scale of art in different mediums. In “Facets” her focus is to bring the viewer closer to each piece to see the details. Coppock believes that the wonders of the universe can be experienced just as profoundly in the little things as in the grand conceptions.

‘Boating Skills & Seamanship’

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is holding a summer session of our safe boating course ‘Boating Skills & Seamanship’ through July. The session is a four-week course which is held on Monday and Thursday evenings from 7 until 9:30 p.m. Participants get educated on many boating topics and get a 400-page boating text. The sessions include navigation, rules of the road, weather, handling your Boat, etc. Information: Joe Riccio, cgauxcourses@gmail.com or 239-384-7416.

Interactive exhibit I Remember Marco’

The Marco Island Historical Society (MIHS) announces a new interactive exhibit, “I Remember Marco,” at the Marco Island Historical Museum. The exhibit is open to the public until Oct. 4, and admission is free. Visitors are invited to share stories and recollections about Marco Island and its history by participating in photo opportunities to share via social media, interactive question stations, and recording responses to the exhibit’s memory-inspiring Marco Island artifacts and images. Prizes will be awarded to selected participants.  The Marco Island Historical Museum is located at 180 S. Camp Mackle

The City of Marco Island Parks and Recreation Department is taking registration currently, for Camp Mackle 2018. Camp Mackle is a summer camp program for children entering first grade through fifth grade. Hours of operation are 7:30 a.m. until 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Camp Mackle is underway now and ends on Aug. 14. Camp Stellar is the summer camp for youth 6th through 8th grades. 

Conservancy of Southwest Florida Environmental Summer Camps

From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekly, now through Aug. 3, at the Conservancy, 1495 Smith Preserve Way, Naples. Kid’s dolphin watch, sightseeing cruise

10 a.m. Saturdays, Pure Florida Naples at Tin City, 1200 Fifth Ave. S., Naples. The 1.5-hour children’s cruise provides an entertaining environment for young ones to learn about the Southwest Florida environment and to observe the variety of wildlife present on the waters, such as dolphins, pelicans, eagles and many other animals. Naples Zoo August First Responders Appreciation Month

Aug. 1 through 31 at the Naples Zoo, 1590 Goodlette-Frank Road, Naples. In appreciation of the police, sheriffs, paramedics, firefighters, and TSA agents who help keep everyone safe, Naples Zoo is once again offering FREE admission to active and retired professional emergency workers.
