1. Tuesday: Breakfast with the Birds

“Back from the Brink – Using Social Attraction to Save Seabirds,” 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, at Rookery Bay Environmental Learning Center, 300 Tower Road, Naples.

Known as Fregata magnificens to serious bird watchers, the seabirds are, indeed, magnificent with their forked tails, angular wings and effortless flight.

Learn about birds at this summer lecture series. Doors open at 9 a.m.

Enjoy pastries, coffee and juice. Cost: $15.

2. Gulf Coast Little League: Baseball signups open now

Gulf Coast Little League fall baseball signups are now open for Marco Island and Naples children aged 4-13.

Season runs from Sept. 17 until Nov. 16. Practice and play is in East Naples and Marco Island.

Kids and parent volunteers can sign-up at www.gulfcoastll.com.

3. Second Tuesday: ‘Power It Up’

The opening reception called Second Tuesday is from 5:30 until 7 p.m., Aug. 14.

The August theme “Power It Up: The Energy of Art.” It is described as a “Call to Artists” show full of artistic possibilities, interpretations and potentials. It is on display from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, through Aug. 28, at Marco Island Center for the Arts, 1010 Winterberry Drive, Marco Island.

The following artists will exhibit: Hope Atwood Dayhoff, Judy Chinski, Ginny Mueller, Betty Newman, Joe Parisi, Vera Ripley, Jo-Ann Sanborn and Karen Swanker.

No reservations are required for the Second Tuesday event. There is a suggested $10 donation for non-members.
