Big turnout for BIG display
Judging by the hoots and whoops as Marco's spectacular July 4 fireworks show came to a close, nobody left the beach in an ordinary frame of mind.
The 20-minute show, accompanied partly by some cloud-to-cloud lightning flashes from Mother Nature to the south, brought to a close a day of patriotic celebration on Marco.
The day was a steamer, with customary showers appearing in the late afternoon, but then obliging by shooing off a couple of hours before the 9 p.m. fireworks show.
Earlier people jammed the shore, with a line of umbrellas stretching all the way from Tigertail Beach to Cape Marco. In front of Residents Beach, kids of all ages participated in games and contests that kept them occupied all day.
See a gallery of some of the action, and watch for a spread of photos in the July 9 edition of the Marco Island Sun Times.
