Decorating contest winners named
And the winners are:
• House winner - 161 Bermuda Road, residents Ted and Debbie Broxson;
• Business/non-house facility winner - Chamber of Commerce Plaza, 1102 N. Collier Blvd.
The Marco Island House and Business Decorating Contest final judging took place on Dec. 18 from 6:30-10:30 p.m. Judges traveled via trolley to visit the Top 10 house finalists taken from the preliminary judging on Wednesday, Dec. 16.
Plaques were presented to the top 10 home contest finalists. The winner of the Business/Non House Facility Contest receives a plaque and a yard sign for annual display on Monday, Dec. 21.
The house decorating winners, Ted and Debbie Broxson, received a winners plaque, yard sign and $250. LCEC, the event’s premier sponsor since the contest’s inception, provided the funds for the event. Centennial Bank annually sponsors the committees tailgate party prior to the finals.
The traditional car caravan followed the trolley to see the top 10 and was the largest caravan in the event’s history. In addition to the Top 10 finalists, a list of “worth seeing” properties are listed for those who wish to view additional Christmas décor. The rules state that winners cannot repeat as winners for five years to ensure the opportunity for others to be successful. Many prior winners still decorate and set high standards for everyone.
The winner of the 2015 house decorating contest located at 161 Bermuda Road was one of more than 1,500 lighted homes judged.

The winner of the business/non-house category is Chamber of Commerce Plaza, 1102 N. Collier Blvd., featuring lighted store fronts and a fabricated lighted Christmas tree.
