Marco voters choose Trump

For Paul Ashline, this election is seen as a watershed event in American politics.

“We must put our country back on the right track,” said Ashline and he wasn’t disappointed on Tuesday evening as his candidate handily won throughout Collier County and on Marco Island.

Ashline serves as the vice chairman for the Donald J. Trump campaign in Collier County and resides on Marco Island -- which easily went to Trump with just under 51 percent of the vote when all the ballots were counted, leaving Marco Rubio in a distant second place.

Ashline was working the polls at the presidential primary all day on Tuesday and was upbeat about the potential outcome of the day -- and he wasn’t disappointed when the results came in later.

“People are just ready for a change from politics as usual,” said Ashline.
