Each spring, the Marco Island Foundation for the Arts (MIFA) presents scholarships to area students majoring in an area of the arts. High school graduating seniors as well as college students living on Marco Island, Goodland or the Isle of Capri are eligible to receive a scholarship up to $1,000 if they will be studying the arts such as visual art, music, dance or the performing arts.

The Foundation wants to remind students and parents about this scholarship opportunity. Students are encouraged to complete the scholarship application and return it to MIFA no later than April 30. Interviews will be held with applicants in early May. A luncheon is being planned for late May to award the scholarships.

If you know a student who is studying literary, visual art or performing arts beyond high school, be sure to make them aware of this wonderful opportunity. Applications are available at the MIFA website, or you can contact Sandi Johnson, MIFA board member, at for more information.
