Hideaway Beach home tour raises money for cancer research

One house featured a real-life mermaid in the pool, another a bevy of exotic cars to make Jay Leno envious, and a condo penthouse had a 270-degree view that made you feel like a human GoPro camera.

The occasion was the (now annual) Hideaway Beach home tour, officially titled Rooms with a View. Four homeowners in the posh gated community had agreed to open up their houses/condo for scrutiny by a bevy of well-dressed women.

The goal? Raise money for cancer research.

The tour – at $150 apiece, and with a fashion show and luncheon thrown in – came after the Relay for Life, with Hideaway Beach traditionally being top contributor by far. Organizers said the extra chunk of change generated by the tour would likely boost the generous community’s contributions to cancer research this year to more than $100,000.

Enjoy the accompanying video to get an idea of what it was like to be on the tour.
