Video: Girlfriend accepts ‘extreme’ game room marriage proposal

Josiah Biancaniello enjoyed Marco Island's real-time “Xtreme Escape” game so much that he returned a few weeks later with his girlfriend Caroline Ignace to go down on one knee and pop the question.
You could call it divine deception, because she had no inkling of how the game would really end.
The game has three rooms - Cell Block M, Lost in the Everglades and Calico Jack’s Lost Treasure – from which participants have 60 minutes to escape by deciphering clues.
Saturday afternoon, the Naples twosome – who have been friends all their lives, and started dating about six months ago – began the game with a handful of mutual friends who had been briefed on the secret proposal.
Later, about 20 family members and friends quietly assembled in the lobby and waited for the game to end. Some were able to watch on closed-circuit television. When it did, there were cheers, chuckles and a breathy gasp from Ignace, who immediately said yes to the proposal and hugged her new husband-to-be.
Biancaniello had arranged with Xtreme Escape owner Michelle Jordan and her brother, Rob Schlegel, for the proposal to coincide with one of the final escape clues.
“At that point,” the game would stop, and he would propose,” Schlegel said.
Ignace’s dad, Billy, said Biancaniello had about a month ago asked him traditionally for his daughter’s hand.
“I thought this was a great idea,” Billy Ignace said. “And, her second surprise is going to be a cruise (the same Saturday evening) on the Marco Island Princess with 85 family and friends."
As for how it felt to have a daughter leaving the fold for marriage at some stage, he was thoughtful for a moment.
“It’s a different chapter,” he said. “A little scary, but it’s exciting, too.”
Michelle Jordan’s son, Howie, said Xtreme Escape has been operating (just up from McDonalds) since Halloween.
Among the more unusual attempts at solving clues, he said, was one guy who dislodged a floor tile by scraping the grout.
Office staff, he said, sometimes text through clues to participants if they become stuck in the game.
The games are:
* Cell Block M, in which participants have served seven years of a life sentence for murder they did not commit. The prison has been condemned, and inmates are being relocated. Players must find evidence to prove their innocence within 60 minutes;
* Lost in the Everglades, which is exactly what it ways, and players have to work together to find shelter and make contact with the outside world in the same time.
* Calico Jack’s Lost Treasure, which presumes being captured by pirates off the coast of the Ten Thousand Islands, and finding a treasure aboard the pirate ship will gain players’ freedom.
