Social Scene: Local Color adopts June wedding theme for First Friday

June is traditionally the month for weddings. In keeping with that tradition, The Local Color Art Gallery located above the Shops of Olde Marco creatively used the theme of brides for their First Friday open house. Sparkle and flowers, wine, champagne and a two-layer wedding cake were served along with delicious appetizers on the buffet table. Betty Newman had her mother’s lacy antique wedding gown on display. And, ever creative, the artists also got into the spirit of the evening by dressing the part of wedding guests and included the appearance of a radiant bride. Nora Halimi owner of Bijou Boutique made a surprise entrance wearing a beautiful dress and veil borrowed from Malenda Trick. Jim Swanker wore his tuxedo and filled in as usher, bar tender, father of the bride and best man. The gallery holds an open house every First Friday of the month year ‘round from 5-7 p.m. It’s a great opportunity to enjoy the fun and meet the artists and learn about their art and working process. Next open house if July 7. Patriotism will be celebrated.
