Cox talks Waterlilies to Calusa Garden Club
Calusa Garden Club of Marco Island members enjoyed a presentation on Monday, March 12 by Danny Cox, aquatic plants director of Naples Botanical Gardens.
Cox brought samples of water lilies, presented a Powerpoint presentation on the biology of waterlilies, and engaged the Club members by letting them touch and examine different types of waterlilies.
Cox brought samples of waterlilies showing beautiful large purple, yellow and white blossoms. He distributed leaves, stems and blooms to the members who enjoyed the hands-on lesson in how waterlilies grow in their natural environments and how Naples Botanical Gardens keeps its waterlily displays healthy.
During the Club’s business meeting that preceded Cox’s presentation, five new members were inducted into Calusa Garden Club membership.
Calusa Garden Club of Marco Island is a member of the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs and membership is open to those interested in horticulture, floral design and environmental matters who reside five months or more in Collier County.
