Invested in the market: Vendors, shoppers descend on Veterans Community Park

Wednesday heralded in the opening of the Marco Island Farmers Market at Veterans Community Park; a sure sign that season is in our midst.

As colorful as an autumn day, the sights and smells of the market signify the subtle seasons change in this tropical paradise.

The early bird gets the worm and his or her pick of the best produce. Within a few minutes of this photo, a couple of lines formed. Opening day for the Marco Island Farmers Market at Veterans Community Park was Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2018.

Shoppers made quick work at the 7:30 a.m. opening, with occasional lines forming for fresh produce, pastries and java. You could also spy some arts, crafts, jewelry and specialty items.

This year’s market features over 80 vendors and 100 booths.

The market is open from 7:30 a.m. until 1 p.m., through April.
