Social Scene: Marco Woman’s Club has April meeting

The Woman’s Club welcomed longtime Marco Island resident and community volunteer extraodinare, Colonel Charlette Roman, retired, to their April lunch meeting. She informed members of the ongoing efforts of two local organizations to protect and restore the Everglades water quality and flow – the South Florida Water Management District and the Big Cypress Basin Board. Together these two agencies manage our local flood protection system, ensure adequate water supply for our communities and safeguard our precious natural resources.

In 2019 Governor DeSantis appointed Roman to the South Florida Water Management District, where she serves as a governing board member and chair of the Big Cypress Basin Board. She is a passionate environmental advocate who prioritizes public engagement and stakeholder education.
