Growing up, and honing their culinary skills in a small Italian town, the Carvelli family has over the years expanded their presence at Marco Walk – first with DaVinci’s, then Marco Prime Steaks & Seafood, and soon to come, The Oyster Society.

This week we feature the cuisine of Marco Prime, where Chef Francesco Carvelli has created a trendy spin on the traditional steakhouse.

The menu focuses on fresh fish and prime grade meats with the influence of French and Asian cuisine. Each day, Chef Francesco carves and filets fresh local fish and prime grade wagyu (specialized, intensely marbled) beef in-house. Customer favorites include miso glazed sea bass, grouper dynamos stuffed with lump crab meat, and for those with a large appetite, the 32 oz. wagyu tomahawk steak (ribeye).

“We pride our success on providing customers with a friendly and personal experience while dining in our ‘house’ … and we are always on-site to enjoy relationships with regulars or those enjoying their first visit,” says co-owner Luigi Carvelli.

By way of a real VIP experience, Chef Francesco prepares private food and wine pairings for parties of any size with advance notice. Selections can be from 5 to 10 courses with the option of pairing wine with each course.

“Personalized tastings at Marco Prime are perfect for birthdays, anniversaries, special occasions and especially business functions,” says Carvelli.

Happy hour features food and drinks ranging from $3 to $7 at the bar from 4:30 to 6 p.m., while a Sunday evening must is a “top notch” prime rib dinner.

Marco Prime is located in Marco Walk Plaza, across from the Hilton. It is a short walk from the Marriot, Marco Beach Ocean Resort, and other popular beach properties on Marco.

Carvelli says the new concept restaurant - in the Capt. Brien’s space – will offer fresh local seafood, an expansive raw bar, sushi, and hand-crafted cocktails. The ambiance will be business casual, and it will have a private dining room to accommodate 50-60 guests for special occasions.

Cherry on top will be the chef’s private tasting room. It will be pre-booked for 5-10 course dishes and wine pairings for up to 10 guests.
