Dining: delish desserts, crafted cocktails
Sometimes the notion of eating out tends to exclude thoughts about peripheral pleasures such as drinks and desserts.
With that in mind, chefs and bartenders at Marco Prime and DaVinci’s at Marco Walk want to remind patrons that crafted cocktails and mouth-watering desserts are an integral part of the dining experience.
At Marco Prime for example, the latest creations by bartender Ivan Ivanov and beverage director Francesco Serravalle include White Negroni made with Beefeater gin, Nonino Amaro (an Italian herbal liquor with bitter-sweet flavor) and orange bitters; Silver Smoke and fire - another modern variation of classic Margarita: made with Mezcal, bearing in mind that Mexican smoky tequila is becoming very popular in America’s bars.
And, if that doesn’t sound tempting, you may want to opt for the wild berry Mojito and Marco Prime’s signature margarita topped with Grand Marnier foam.
Over at nearby DaVinci’s, the Nutty Leonardo is making waves. It’s a blend of Woodford Reserve whiskey, maple syrup, allspice liqueur and walnut bitters. Also popular are house infused liquors like pineapple tequila or cucumber vodka, infused syrups, and red and white Sangrias
To close out the meals, there’s Marco Prime’s chocolate soufflé served with vanilla ice cream - it has a delicious molten chocolate center and springy exterior. This one does need 20 minutes to make, so servers should be alerted, incidentally.
Also tempting at Marco Prime is chocolate mousse, Key lime (modern variation of classic dessert), crème brûlée or a mini-trio of soufflé, espresso mousse and chocolate ice cream served together.
DaVinci’s is big on its chocolate mousse cake, a new topped with milk chocolate and white chocolate mousse; profiteroles (light and delicate cream puffs filled with ice cream and topped with house-made warm chocolate sauce. Traditional favorites include Tiramisu, classic Italian cannoli or key lime pie.
