Two motorcycle riders were injured on Marco Island on Wednesday as they rode with a group of veterans bringing the Traveling Vietnam Wall into town for an exhibition.

The motorcade was accompanying the wall to Veterans Park, where it will be displayed through Feb. 16.

The riders were airlifted to a Fort Myers trauma center due to head injuries in a low-speed crash. Neither was wearing a helmet, fire-rescue officials said.

The accident happened at the end of a one-hour escort ride to Marco.

This is the only Southwest Florida stop for the traveling wall.

Marco is the smallest community on the 24-city, 2015 tour schedule.
