Lynne Minozzi new Noontime Rotary president
The Marco Island Noontime Rotary Club installed new officers at DaVinci’s Ristotante, as the Rotary International theme for 2015-16, “Be a Gift to the World,” plays out around the world with each group making plans for upcoming projects.
President Lynne Minozzi and officers were officially installed by district governor Cyndi Doragh and assistant governor Pete Doragh.
Minozzi officially took over July 2 as outgoing president Bruce Graev passed the gavel at an informal ceremony.
“Membership is the lifeblood of Rotary,” Minozzi told members, as plans move forward to institute a program that rewards members who bring in new members.
The club’s new president follows in the footsteps of her late husband, Mike Minozzi, who led the Marco Rotary Club as president in 1998. Lynne Minozzi remembers her introduction to Rotary, when Mike became president of the New York Eastchester Rotary Club in 1985.
“Today was bitter sweet for me because my beloved wasn’t here physically,” said Minozzi. “But I definitely felt his presence spiritually.”
Speaking to the members, the president said the club’s focus for the upcoming year will be on the children and families in the community.
“It’s so hard to believe that just a few minutes away we have children and parents living in cars and children going to school without the basics,” said Minozzi. “They need our help.”
Both Rotary clubs on Marco and Kiwanis will work together for the annual seafood festival, the YMCA Taste of Marco and Rotary Golf Tournament to raise money for various programs that include the clubs’ college scholarship programs for island students.
On a personal note, Minozzi said she carries a picture of Mike in the notebook with all her Rotary business.
“When I look at his picture I remember the true meaning of Rotary and I know if he was here with me today he would be so proud,” she said.
In addition to Minozzi as president, new officers include:
Jennifer Tenney - vice president;
Cindy Love-Abounader - secretary;

George Abounader - director;
