Marine makes Marco couple proud
Not too many people can pride themselves in having Marines in the family, but the buttons are popping for Marco Island couple Ken and Carol Knauf.
Their grandson, Alec Hemphill, recently graduated from the Marine Corps boot camp at Parris Island, S.C., and the Knaufs were there to see and record the proceedings.
Hemphill, who lives with his parents, Debra (Ken and Carol Knauf's daughter) and Kirk Hemphill, in Rockledge, Fla., entered the Marine Corps after graduating from high school in May.
After a 10-day relief period, the new Marine was to go on to additional training and then later be assigned to Marine Corps duty.
The Knauf couple moved to Marco in 1992 from Cleveland, Ohio, where they had been in the real estate business since 1975. On Marco, they are associated with Results Realty, and are among just a few agents stationed in the Marco Marriott resort.
Ken Knauf was previously a vice president of a large Cleveland bank. He and his wife have been servicing buyers and sellers on Marco Island for the past 23 years, and have logged more $1 billion worth of real estate activities over their 40-year careers.
