Calusa Garden Club's annual holiday party at the Mirage Condo Social Room was a celebration of another successful year for members whose favorite activity is gardening.

Club president Linda Colombo welcomed the members arriving with their gifts in hand.

The luncheon included food, champagne, a gift exchange and a short program provided by the Bonsai Boys, who demonstrated how to create your own Bonsai tree. After the demonstration three Bonsai's were raffled off.

The club meets once a month on the second Monday at Wesley United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. from October-March with Horticulture programs, workshops, floral design and the yearly Flower Show open to the community will open the first week in March in conjunction with the Center For the Arts.

Through the year the club members maintain Calusa Park on Winterberry Drive from Heathwood Drive to Sand Hill, including the Butterfly Garden across from the ball field.

Another segment of the club is the seven member Beautification Committee established in 1981. Numerous projects in process around the island that started with beautifying the medians and now includes Arbor Day, Marco In Bloom and other projects.

Club members donated and installed the Blue Stat Memorial at Veterans Park, which can only be done by affiliation with National Garden Club.
