UPDATE: U.S. 41 is now open after a wildfire closed U.S. 41 bewteen State Road 29 and County Road 92 early Tuesday morning. 

A travel advisory for smoke in the area is still in effect.

EARLIER: 

The Florida Highway Patrol has closed U.S. 41 in Collier County between State Road 29 and County Road 92 (San Marco Road).  This closure is directly related to the wildfire in the Picayune Strand. Visibility has dropped to 100 feet due to smoke and continues to deteriorate.  The roadway will remain closed until further notice.

Earlier this week : FHP: Portion of U.S. 41 between San Marco Rd and SR-29 reopens

Alternate routes include:

» Traffic traveling west may use I 75 (Alligator Alley) as an alternate route of travel or may use westbound US 41 to northbound State Road 29 to westbound I75

» Traffic traveling east may use I 75 (Alligator Alley) as an alternate route of travel or may use eastbound I 75 to southbound State Road 29 to eastbound US 41.
