Marco Island man, 75, dies Monday after his scooter hits curb, crashes
A 75-year-old Marco Island man was killed Monday in a scooter crash, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Ronald Burger was riding his Jonway YY250T-2 scooter south on Front Street after turning left from First Avenue on Marco Island about 5 p.m. when the crash occurred, according to the FHP.
The scooter hit a curb, overturned and Burger was thrown off. The scooter landed on top of Burger, and he was taken to Physicians Regional-Collier Boulevard, where he was pronounced dead.
Alcohol was not a factor in the accident, the FHP report stated.
