The traffic lights on San Marco Rd. and S Heathwood Drive will continue to be out of service until parts arrive, according to Captain David Baer of the Marco Island Police Department (MIPD).

"The city is waiting on parts to complete the repair," Baer wrote Tuesday in an email to the Eagle.

The Public Works department is working with the city's vendor to identify and correct the problem, according to an MIPD tweet from Aug. 6.

"We will have an officer at the intersection to assist with children walking to and from school," MIPD tweeted Monday.

The city also placed stop signs to make the intersection a four-way stop until the traffic lights are fixed.
