1. Making Wawa history

Wawa recently announced that with its 200th store in Florida launching in South Naples on Oct. 17, Wawa is debuting a new drink at the 8 a.m. opening that will be served at all of the state's locations.

Wawa's new beverage, which will debut with the opening of the newest location in Collier County.

The Florida Sunrise refreshment, only scheduled to be sold for a couple of weeks, will benefit the Feeding Florida food bank network that includes the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida. Wawa estimates up to $25,000 from sales of its $2 Siptopia-branded creation will go to the network.

2. FHP: Naples motorcyclist dies in crash 

A Naples motorcyclist died in a Friday night crash, Florida Highway Patrol reports.

According to troopers, Jacob R. Siegert, 27, of Naples, was driving a 2018 Dodge Ram north on Collier Boulevard about 10 p.m. when he went to make a U-turn.

He turned into the path of a Harley-Davidson driven by James Galarza, 57 as he was driving south on the boulevard. Troopers did not indicate the nearest cross street.

The Harley-Davidson hit the back of the truck, troopers said, with Galarza dying at the scene.

3. Publix recalls Deli White American Cheese, saying it may contain foreign material

Publix Super Markets has issued a voluntary recall of Publix Deli White American Cheese, warning that it may contain foreign material.

The cheese was potentially sold between Oct. 3-11 in sub sandwiches and from refrigerated cases in the deli department.

"As part of our commitment to food safety, potentially impacted product has been removed from all store shelves," Maria Brous, Publix media and community relations director, said in a Friday press release.

Customers who purchased the cheese, or subs made with the cheese, can return the product to their local Publix for a full refund, company officials said.

Publix Deli White American Cheese is sourced from Great Lakes Cheese.
