Ask LaFleur: Why no holiday decor at The Well? And what's being built on Pete Hollis?
Question: I know this is after the fact, but in the past The Well has been decorated for the holidays. Why did they not decorate this year?
Answer: This reader is correct in saying Bon Secours Wellness Arena was not decorated for the holidays this year, but it's actually been a while since it was decorated, according to Beth Paul, general manager of The Well.
Paul said the arena has not been decorated for the holidays in several years, but it may soon be decorated again.
"We are discussing internally what we can do next holiday season and it is our intention to start again very soon," Paul told The News in an email last week.
Question: What's under construction on Pete Hollis Boulevard just past Rutherford Street?
Answer: According to publicly available planning commission documents from summer 2019, a new Starbucks store is coming to the site under construction at the corner of Pete Hollis Boulevard and Echols Street in Greenville.
This is one of several new Starbucks in the area, including one I wrote about last month that's being built on Pelham Road near the intersection with Garlington.
According to an email from the Starbucks press communication office, the store is expected to open this summer and will employ 25 people.
